The GOP's Dumbo Ticket - Mt. Rushmore, you betcha!
Cape Cod Today ^ | June 6, 2011

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." -H.L. Mencken

Get ready for the GOP's next frontal assault on what's left of the American voters' collective intelligence, the Palin/Bachman ticket for 2012. The old GOP was symbolized by Jumbo, the elephant first depicted by Thomas Nast, but this inevitable ticket will be symbolized by Dumbo and Dumboer in the personae of Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann.

I will try to resist the temptation to call it the Bimbo ticket -not out of some misplaced sense of political correctitude, but simply because the term Bimbo doesn't quite plumb the depths of of Palin's utter stupidity -a stupidity exceeded only by the idiocy of Bachman. Besides, the term Bimbo carries a connotation of loose sexuality, in addition to somewhat diminished intelligence, and it could easily apply to some male GOP candidates including Newt Gingrich as a Bimbo in britches.

Gingrich, by the way, made the understatement of the year last winter when he said Palin lacked the gravitas to be President. Palin actually thought the Newtster's remark about her lack of gravitas was a compliment about her lean and mean bitchin' bod until one of her handlers told her what the word gravitas means. Then TSHTF and the Teabaggers got all over Gingrich, so he had to apologize for simply stating the obvious.

So the Palin/Bachman ticket would be the Dumbo ticket, as the GOP goes off the deep end once and for all into the media-driven morass of mass moronics, as typified by the Teabagger movement. Many thanks to Rupert Murdoch and Fox Snooze for all that too. If you don't believe it, just pick up a copy of the Herald to see how Palin manages to keep herself in the public eye, with a front page story last week about how she rode in a motorcycle rally, wearing a helmet emblazoned with the Harley Davidson logo. That's Mt. Rushmore stuff, fer shure!

Michael Dukakis was ridiculed by rags like the Herald for a photo op showing him wearing an army tank commander's helmet -ha, ha, ha! But Simple Sarah wearing a Harley helmet? Now that's downright Presidential -you betcha! Actually, it must be said that the photos of Palin under the biker helmet makes her look like a bimbo -but that's giving her way too much credit by elevating appearance of substance. That biker photo op, by the way, is surely the reason that Palin is currently ahead of Romney in polls of likely GOP voters, despite the fact that she hasn't even officially declared yet and he has.

The fact that Palin is the likely GOP nominee for President in 2012, is almost a given in light of the influence of Fox News on American politics, but the nomination of Bachman to share the ticket with her needs some further explanation. First, there is the principle of geographic balance, where Palin is from Alaska and Bachman is from Maryland. Beyond that, however, the selection process at the GOP convention becomes more one of elimination than inclusion.

Virtually all other potential GOP candidates, led by Romney and then down the line to Gingrich -including Massachusetts' own Scott Brown, are way too intelligent and sensible to ever get the Teabagger vote which the GOP will desperately need to win in 2012. Not that the GOP field is anywhere near being MENSA material, mind you -far from it, but there is nobody else but Bachman who is inanely stupid enough to meet the Tea Party's inflexible ideological demands.

In addition, given that Palin wins the top spot on the GOP ticket, what potential candidate other than Bachman would even want to be Palin's number two? The other Republican hopefuls are certainly a sorry lot, but even malicious clowns like Romney and Gingrich have some standards, and at least a superficial sense of pride. So, given that Palin wins the top spot, there's just nobody else but Bachman who has both the necessary Teabagger "credentials" and the idiotic vapidity to share the ticket with her in 2012.

We barely survived eight years of America's first MBA presidency -with George W. Bush bringing all that high-level business acumen to the White House and implementing "free market" economic policies of deregulation and tax cutting that led to the most devastating economic crash in eighty years. Romney's current spin on this is laughable -saying that Obama only inherited a "recession" in 2008 and he's somehow made it worse because he hasn't been able to turn it around in two years while Republicans in Congress are not mere trying to impede his policies but are trying to ensure that his Presidency is a failure.

Sensible people, mostly liberals and moderates, recognize that the crash of 2008 was caused precisely because of the economic policies of the MBA President George W. Bush, based on the failed economic vision of Ayn Rand. Rand, however, at least had a flirtation with intellectual gravitas, shallow as it was, but with Palin, America is about to elect our first Reality Show President -with the First Moron being sworn in on schedule in January 2013. It's the American heart's desire, just as predicted by the Sage of Baltimore.

....-with the First Moron being sworn in on schedule in January 2013.

That's impossible the First Moron currently resides in the White House.

First, there is the principle of geographic balance, where Palin is from Alaska and Bachman is from Maryland.

I guess this Dumbo doesn't know Michele Bachmann lives in Minnesota not Maryland. All that hate clogged up his brain.

Don't cha just love all this dripping liberal hate and angst?

Why is the corrupt MSM so concerned about the welfare of the GOP such that they are worried for us if we nominate Palin?

The corrupt MSM can BITE ME!

How about showing Obama’s faux pax in England where he was toasting the Queen while the music played and he looked like a dufus. If that were George Bush that clip would have been ridiculed all over and Saturday Night Live would have done a skit on it, but because it was brother Obama - not a peep.

Same old tired elitist slime, every Republican is stupid. Reagan was stupid, Bush was stupid, the MSM will try to marginalize any Republican as being to dumb to... whatever. Because the liberal elites - although wrong about EVERYTHING - are so brilliant.

I support Palin 100%.

ah, so “Richard” is a really REALLY smart Ivy League lawyer with a son on his 5th year of undergrad at Fitchburg State

and a politician, too, past chairman of the Falmouth planning board, deciding the nitty gritty, like who gets to extend their docks

Where does America find such men in our hour of need?

This is downright laughable considering the pathetic moron and his retarded sidekick currently ensconced at the White house who are busily destroying the economy of the United States even as we speak.

Apparently, Richard doesn’t feel like backing up his article with any facts.

Oh, except that Palin was wearing a biker helmet and he thinks that looks silly. No nod to the fact that liberal nanny-state policies make it a necessity for ANYONE riding a motorcycle to wear one...

Obama’s so brilliant that he’s bankrupted all 57 states.

Real genius.

Any state which has given the nation such bright political stars as John F. Kerry, the swimming champion, Bawney Frank and Patrick Deval (living proof of the Peter Principle) has no right to comment on the political choices of the rest of the nation.

That might just be the Mother of All PDS Blog Posts.

Whoever "Richard" is, he is a nearly-perfect synthesis of Kennedy-esque arrogance, hyper-emotionalism, and Lilliputian intellect of a kind that makes today's Progressive universe such a special place. And by "special", I mean: rabidly insane.

Based on his college graduation date, the guy would only be 60. Cripes. I pegged him for 80.
