Letter to the Consortium for Energy Efficiency

I have had it with the green nazis. They are ruining our standard of living, and I do not understand why we are putting up with it.

I hope that if we are willing to stand up and be heard, it might make a difference. Fellow Freepers, I encourage you to join me in an attempt to turn the tide before it is too late.

The website of the CEE is www.cee1.org and we all know how to contact our senators and representatives.

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: appliances; green; mandates; protest
Recently, I have been shopping for a new washing machine only to discover that new energy standards took effect in Jan. of this year. The predictable result is that they don't work worth a diddle. They use so little water that they are designed to beat clothes to death to get them clean. Besides the machines being expensive and inferior, detergents no longer contain phosphates, so stains stay in clothing and whties are dingy, so it's a double whammy leading to smelly, unclean laundry.

In a post of complaints about washing machines, I found a link to the site of the CEE, a taxpayer supported group, that promotes all these absurd standards. This is the letter I wrote to the head of the CEE and that I intend to send to my senators and representative. Enough is enough!------------------

Dear Mr. Hoffman:

I cannot tell you how angry I am. No appliance works as it should any longer due to the ridiculous so-called energy saving mandates required for consumer products. I have searched and searched for a decent washing machine, and there are no longer any available. If you would take the time to read product reviews, you would see that people are furious about how poorly their washing machines perform. Many times people wash loads repeatedly in a vain attempt to get their clothes clean. In what way does this save energy? It is also a hygiene issue. How long before people start getting sick because they can't get their laundry clean?

My current washer is not the greatest, but I will hold onto it as long as I possibly can, because all the new ones are horrible. Your organization and other green fanatics are ruining our quality of life, and it doesn't save anything. From toilets that smell, are hard to clean, and require several flushings to work, to appliances that cost almost as much as a new car and are not worth having, things are getting worse every day for the average American and probably nearly impossible for poor people. That is just the beginning of a long list of products that are totally inferior to older models, because government regulation has ruined them. I hope you are pleased with what you and others like you who live in a fantasy world of unreasonable demands have wrought.

I intend to complain frequently and loudly to my senators and representative, but I have little hope of any real action being taken. Politicians are good at passing absurd new laws and mandates; rarely do they repeal any of them.

To top it all, your organization is funded by my tax dollars. I want my money back.

The problem of the dingy whites can be solved with a solar clothes dryer.
