Khartoum Summit Ends With Declaration Calling For Comprehensive Peace

The tripartite summit meeting of the presidents of Sudan, Chad and the Republic of Central Africa (CAR) here has ended... with the adoption of the Khartoum Declaration which also seeks the achievement of sustainable development, exchanges and consultations on regional and international issues, and supporting one another in regional and international forums... the establishment of a joint force to protect the common borders of the three countries and trilateral co-ordination among the Interior Ministries to control smuggling, infiltration along borders, illegal hunting, combating organised crime and cross-border crimes... to work on boosting peaceful co-existence between tribes living near the common borders, peaceful resolution of trans-border conflicts between the pastoral tribes, encouragement of the voluntary return of refugees, and establishment of a tripartite consultative mechanism to deal with the security and military issues... agreement to work on the establishment of a preferential trade area among the three countries, approval of a protocol that regulate border trade and an agreement on transit trade among the countries... formation of a joint committee to follow up and address the problems and conflicts that may arise between the three countries, commitment to raise the terms of trade and encouraging joint investments and taking the necessary measures for converting the common tri-border area for an integration area... completion of existing projects... feasibility studies for projects for roads and rail lines between the three... coordination between ministries and relevant bodies with regard to combating transboundary diseases, immunisation, provision of veterinary services control of agricultural pests, water issues, environment, combating desertification, boosting co-operation in the fields of technology and scientific research, exchange of experiences and opportunities for post-graduate studies, developing co-operation to extend solar energy for villages on the border lines between the three countries.

Not much has improved since Gordon was killed in Khartoum. Osama can’t be the new Mahdi but I’m sure they will find one. The slave trade is still going well but no one is fighting it much after Gordon.
