Iraq War Veteran Jose Guerena, 26, was shot and killed on May 5 by a Pima County SWAT team that fired 71 bullets through Guerena's front door. The video of that raid, captured on a SWAT helmet cam, is below.

It’s on KGUN9 news right now...

The Pima County Sheriffs Department has now released the helmet cam video of the raid you see above.
I count about eight seconds of one siren. Which is probably why some of the neighbors dont recall hearing one. I think I hear about 8-10 seconds of a man shouting something that sounds like police and search warrant, but its difficult to hear, and thats from a camera that looks to be about 15 feet away (though possibly in a closed vehicle). It certainly isnt the blaring sirens and 45 seconds of knocking and screaming of police that Mike Storie indicated.
Now imagine youre asleepbehind a couple walls, after working a graveyard shiftfor what you see in the video. Would you have woken up and known that these were cops breaking into your home? Might it have been in the back of your mind that you had relatives murdered by armed intruders just a year ago?
As I wrote in my column, if we see convincing evidence that Guerena was part of a violent home-invasion ring, and that this is what the search was for (as opposed to a marijuana investigation, as press reports initially indicated), Ill reassess my opinion of the police action. That there were perfectly legal guns, armor, and, as far as we know right now, a Border Patrol baseball cap in his home is far from convincing evidence.
After a quick review of the video, I don’t hear a muffled first shot, indicitive of the first shot coming from inside the house.
All the gunshots sound the same - same timber of sound.
Actually all the gunshots sound the same. Nary a one sounds muffled as I would think a gunshot fired within the house would sound. It also appears the gunshots were recorded on this helmet cam - well away from the front door.
I just want to add that I am a strong supporter of police and the thankless job they do.
However, this one has a real stench about it.
I tend to agree. If the suspect, so-called, did fire a semi-auto rifle, I would think that the sound would be significantly louder than a 9mm handgun. Regardless, it would sound different. And assuming that Pima SWAT has been informed that Americans can justifiably be carrying a rifle when alarmed, and are innocent until proven guilty, I think that the local ‘rules of engagement’ need reworking. America is becoming a police state.
Murders tend to stink just a bit...
What this essentially shows is that we are screwed.
If you are jolted out of your sleep to the sound of a home invasion, regardless if people are screaming “police search warrant” cuz the criminals yell it too. And you arm yourself and its the cops your dead..
If you think it’s the police and submit and it turns out to be criminals your dead...
If it’s the cops and you kill o e of them but survive the attack, you’ll be executed fir murder...
Welcome to the law and order at any cost conservative amerika... Now submit or die!
Agreed. Cops have a thankless job, but they volunteer. If your boss tells you to shoot when you feel threatened, and puts you in a positions of constant threat, guess what? You’ll be killing innocent people from time to time. The credo: “Make sure that at the end of your shift you are alive,” is fine, but if I was one of the Pima SWAT members who decided to empty my magazine just cause everyone else was doing it... well, hopefully I would be reexamining my career choice.
They killed him, murdered him, did they find their final reason yet?
IMO, THE single exception is an active hostage situation, and those are few and far between. Just to make a drug bust....NO!
Bump.
No security for you Guerena!
Our police are equipped with automatic weapons, using deadly force in the process of serving a warrant.
YET, our MILITARY is given empty guns or rubber bullets.
What is wrong with this picture?
I just watched the video - disgusting.
Truly horrific.
Anyone still supporting the War on Drugs needs their head examined.
Oh, and I also favor for sending every member of this team away for life in prison as well as Dupnick.
YES THERE ARE.
BUT.... when was the last (or even first, second, third) time you heard about how SWAT was used in a situation where these kind of tactics, and equipment, were absolutely necessary????
Like, busting the HQ of some GANG ?
You know they have a gang CRIB. Everyone knows. Everyone in the hood knows where it is. Shouldn't even be hard to get a warrant.
Yet...
Executing a man in his own home in front of his wife and kids on a trumped up charge.
Judgment Day is coming.
Semper fi.
Next lets have some helmet cam shots of Marines killing members of the Pima County SWAT team.
