Paraphrasing of the news story I heard was that he is going to have medicine forced down on him, wait until he is compitant, then put him on trial.
The prosecutors have not given up folks, they are still going forward.
this is not the end
NOOOOO!!! He was such a nice, normal-looking boy.
Being found incompetent to stand trial doesn’t mean he walks free. John Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity and has remained more or less institutionalized since.
He isn’t walking the streets unsupervised. This will keep him locked up until considered sane enough to face trial.
Yeah, but CBS News is on TV, and “attorney’s” *sounds* the same as “attorneys,” so who cares? /s//
BTW, “as to whether” and the semi-colon that precedes the phrase are also wrong.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone. Next case!
Well, the hotshots also should capitalize “Federal” if it’s the actual prison name:
“... the Bureau of Prisons’ Medical Center for federal Prisoners in Springfield, Mo.”
I was going to suggest it was written by an intern since there’s no byline, but no, my money’s on the Ivy grad! LOL. At least they didn’t spell it “attornies”.
No surprise at all. The dude is clearly a paranoid (or mixed type) schizophrenic based on age, gender, and reports of increasingly bizarre behavior over the previous months that is typical of developing schizophrenics.
The real tragedy is that this guy was allowed to just walk about becoming more and more delusional until he finally exploded, because schizophrenia is both common (1% incidence in population older than 18 worldwide) and treatable.
He was pretty easy to armchair diagnose. Paranoid schizophrenia. I am not surprised. He will still be put away for the rest of his life in some form of institution. He is obviously a severe danger to society.
I’d like to see his parents get hit with some kind of “public endangerment” charges because there is no way they didn’t know that their son had broken from reality. They can’t force him into treatment as an adult but they could have done SOME signaling to authorities that he was a risk.
well of course he isn’t responsible, the MSm told us Palin was and the GOP didn’t exactly argue about it did they?
//extreme sarcasm
I had not heard that one before. I like it. May I begin using it?
I'd be willing to trade you “crazier than a rat in a tin sh1t-house in hail storm” for it.
Some stooge just told the court that Loughner is a loony and does not understand anything that is being talked about in the courtroom. However, he does understand what Rush, Hannity and Palin are talking about. The ‘RATS now have their Hero of 2012. He gave them their Miracle In Tucson and now he won’t have to pay for it. How nice. The ‘RATS must be tickled to death. Their boy got off.
So THAT’S why he hasn’t been impeached yet. He’s not competent to stand trial — well, that and those three terrifying words: “president Joseph Biden”...
lol..use away. I stole it from a TV show.
Fair trade!
I miss Bronson!
sounds like Industrial Wood Chipper Therapy is in order.
The gun shop guy apparently thot he was competent when he sold him the pistol. He filled out the federal 4473 form by himself-—had to. At a minimum he needs to be confronted with his own answers on the 4473. My bottom line is if he was able to pass himself off as “competent” to buy then we should be able to try/hang him the same way.
...... and send him to the next Democrat Convention.
No, don't worry, that's illegal. We're safe.
He shot libs so let the libs deal with him as they see fit. It’s a Barabas moment for them. Maybe he’ll be “better” in a few years and will be released. I’m fine with it.
Besides, it fits in nicely with the current effort to relieve prison overcrowding.
