Bryan Stow Family Suing Dodgers
ESPN ^ | May 24, 2011 | Ramona Shelburne

The family of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow, who was brutally beaten in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day, filed a civil suit against the Dodgers in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday morning.

The suit seeks unspecified damages to cover Stow's future medical care and as compensation for the economic damages to Stow and his two children.

"It's fairly simple," said Thomas Girardi, the attorney representing the family. "The Dodgers have shown a total disregard for public safety. They've gotten rid of security people. They've had all these incidents at their games, more than other teams. There's also a known gang presence. What did they think was going to happen?"

Girardi said that the family insisted on repaying much of the money that has been raised for the Bryan Stow Fund since the attack, except for a scholarship for Stow's children that was donated by Giants slugger Barry Bonds because it "means so much to them."

The Dodgers did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

Millions go to the games every year without a problem. I have gone to many games - I don’t think it is the Dodger’s fault these two parties got into a verbal debate the extended into the parking lot and Bryan was injured.

But that is where the money is. Was the suspect an illegal? Maybe he should sue the federal government if he is.

Why shouldn’t Mayor Villaraigos be sued for letting gangs run willy nilly and with impunity, all over L.A.?

If they are illegal, they should sue the MEXICAN government as well.

Tom Girardi was the attorney for Erin Brockovich.

I don’t think it is the Dodger’s fault these two parties got into a verbal debate the extended into the parking lot and Bryan was injured.

According to news reports published the day after the incident, Bryan Stow's only crime was wearing a Giants jersey while sitting in a gang infested part of Dodger stadium. There was no verbal altercation, the "Latino" gang members just started harrasing him following him out to the parking lot where the attack took place. The gang member arrested for the crime on Sunday was on parole.

And yet, they attended the game anyway.

Every year, the Dodgers rent out Dodgers' Stadium to the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Believe me, the JWs don't have any problem at all securing every detail of the parking lot.

If the JWs can do it, as the Dodgers take cash from a cult to promote the cult, then the Dodgers should be able to secure their parking lots!

According to the local news and it is really covered by Bill Carroll at 640 am they were verbally exchanging barbs in their seats but it escalated after the game and leaving to parking lot.

It was one of the many leads they had been following - who had the seats, who bought them...

Well, IF they convert Chavez Ravine into a medium security penitentiary, they MIGHT be able to “protect the public” from the third world savages.

Wink and nod, Shyster, we know that you could give a crap about public safety. Aside from using it at as a club with which to extort money out of the wealthy, there’s no money in “public safety” for attorney scum like you, Girardi.

Pro sports has become a haven for professional whoremongers, thugs and dope addicts. Anything that could end pro ball (basketball, foolsball, baseball) is a good thing.

Not surprised. This is the thanks we get for providing some of the BEST care in the world for injuries like Mr. Stow’s. A stinking ambulance-chasing lawyer just eager to have ANOTHER 15 minutes of fame. Sheesh!

FWIW, NEVER wear an opposing team’s jersey at Dodger Stadium. You do so at your own risk.

“Was the suspect an illegal?”

Suspect has already served time in prison. In California illegals are turned over to ICE for deportation when they finish their sentence. I have not heard that he was ever deported. He might be an anchor baby. Either way, if not for illegal immigration Bryan Stow would be home safe with his family.

Is is definitely the Dodgers’ fault that they allowed their stadium to become a gang haven, and did nothing about their dark parking lot or needed security.

And there was NO VERBAL DEBATE. These thugs sneaked up on Stow and his friends and attacked Stow from the back with a deadly weapon. He was unconscious before he hit the floor.

I listen to Bill Carroll and I have never heard of barbs being traded between these thugs and the Stow party. They do not remember these thugs from within the game at all.

Yes, barbs were traded INSIDE the game between OTHER thuggish Dodger fans, and then the Stow family did not continue the “friendly” taunts because the other side got nasty and started to throw heavy objects (full drinks, etc) at them. At that point, Bryan Stow texted to someone that he was actually afraid.

As they walked out of the stadium, they encountered these violent thugs for the first time, and I believe they were hit or roughed up a little, but they just continued walking and did not engage. In his job as an EMT, Stow knew how to break up fights or discourage them, so he kept walking. It was about 5 minutes later that these thugs RE-APPEARED and slugged Stow in the head, from BEHIND, with something deadly.

Have the Dodgers courted the gang element?

It seems that gang-bangers are buying an awful lot of tickets.
