If it’s a foreign aid issue, then he’s just being consistent.

If he is against Israel, that would be a problem.

Well, his daddy is an un-admitted, but obvious anti-semite.

Perhaps the acorn didn’t fall far from the nut.

Yup, this was the concern with Rand. Sounds like his true stripes are beginning to show and he may be much more like his demented father than he let on. I’ve always been suspicious of Rand for this very reason and wondered if he and his father are trying to co-opt the TEA Party and turn it into some kind of libertarian dominated organization. It’s already bad enough that Fox and other media call Ron Paul “the godfather of the TEA party” when that is most certainly not true.

Thank you, Rand Paul - for revealing your true side.

Goodbye, Rand Paul. You’re swinging by your own petard

wow. Huge black mark for Rand. He seemed like a more reasonable version of his dad, who is right on some issues, but utterly disastrous on others. This shows he may be nothing more than an anti-Semite.

From the article:
Paul spokeswoman Moira Bagley flatly denied Paul’s absence was related to Israel funding, pointing out that her boss had heard Netanyahu speak Monday night while attending the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference.

“This is about the PATRIOT Act and Reid not yet keeping his agreement on amendments,” Bagley said.

Looks like this is less about Israel and more about a procedural dispute between Paul and Reid. I will admit, though, that the commentary in the article about the cloture clock and how that relates to Paul's actions is a bit beyond me. Maybe somebody here is better informed on this issue and can contribute something helpful in that regard.

Further down in the article...

Paul, a tea-party-backed senator who opposes the Patriot Act, has said he wants to “drag out” the process of renewing key provisions of the counter-terrorism law which expire Friday. Reid had hoped to recess the Senate during the speech and count that toward the cloture clock, but Paul stayed on the Senate floor, kept the chamber open, and was able to stop the cloture clock.

This is a big strike against Rand. I had hoped that he was better than his dad, but I guess not.

I’m no fan of foreign aid but in the case of Israel its strategic aid in the best possible sense (Not to mention the technological return on our investment)

Israel faces a constant state of financial warfare from all sides, our aid to Israel is worthy.

If he keeps this up, Rand Paul will establish himself as a kook and lose much of the Tea Party and conservative support he’s enjoyed. Not many want a doctrinaire libertarian.

I guess it’s the talk of those “evil bankers” - according to the Pauls, life we be so good if it were not for the “evil bankers”. And we could legalize all drugs for recreational use.

Interesting political plaform - they’ll make sure you have money and drugs. Like a modern-day “chicken in every pot”.

In typical "conservative" fashion, someone gets thrown under the bus immediately on unfavorable media speculation in an excerpt. Facts don't matter. The excerpter may have an agenda.

The full piece says he stayed in the Senate chamber to block Reid's parliamentary maneuvers on renewing the Patriot Act another 4 years. His office his absence had to do with anything foreign aid.
