Ah but when you know the Beltway DC establishment as I do, you realize that those guys and gals actually deal with money, platforms, media outlets and that is why the BASE has always been disappointed. Ever since ‘64,the conserv BASE has had to face the DC types who kept pushing their choices off the ballot. Remember? It was not till Reagan building on AUH2O that conservs began to push back in real numbers. The GOP still nominated Nixon, Ford, two Bushes, Dole, McCain and these people were good Americans but they were not good solid conservs.

Lugar and a number of other senators argue that it is the President's right to appoint the people he wants to the USSC, and that the Constitution sets a very low bar for qualification for that court ~ essentially nothing.

The Constitution also sets a very low bar for REMOVAL FROM OFFICE ~ through the mechanism of impeachment.

Alas, Lugar hasn't thought it all the way through or he'd realize that failure to critically examine these Democrat montebancs isn't really offset by impeachment since they never use it.

If they made it a common practice to rip bad judges off the bench and field strip them things would be different, but it's not, and the burden falls on him, Dick Lugar, to make those critical examinations.

Frankly, he and other senators who don't challenge judicial appointments are simply lazy.

Time to go Lugar! Back to the paint factory eh.

You’re right, muawiyah. Lamar Alexander is one of those other senators who almost never will oppose a leftist judicial candidate. I hope Lugar will be ousted in the 2012 primary and Alexander in 2014.
