Senator Lugar Calls Conservatives "Duped"
National Tea Party Alert ^ | May 19, 2011 | Richard Mourdock for U.S. Senate

Posted on 05/19/2011 11:03:22 AM PDT by bkopto

Republican U.S. Senator Dick Lugar's campaign sent an email to his supporters complaining: "The large number of [Indiana] Republican County Chairmen" who endorsed Richard Mourdock were "duped."

Well, apparently, due to my conservative values and long history of meeting and listening to Hoosiers, tens of thousands of them have now also been "duped" into supporting my campaign. Will you join them today by making a contribution?

Adding insult to injury, Senator Lugar's campaign said to Conservatives that you must "rally around the Dick Lugar flag; you have been led down the wrong path and it's time to come home."

Like Senator Murkowski of Alaska, he then made a veiled threat to run as an Independent saying he would run with or without Conservative support.

Is this the kind of leadership we want from a U.S. Senator? He thinks that with his millions in the bank that he doesn't need the support of grassroots conservatives.

I know he's wrong and that's why I am counting on all of the "duped" conservatives out there to help me by contributing $50 today.

Along with organizations like the National Republican Trust and the Gun Owners of America, nearly 75% of Indiana GOP County Chairmen have endorsed my campaign. Tea Party leaders across Indiana have made it clear - they want a consistent, Constitutional conservative. And as the Indiana State Treasurer, I have a record of conservative reform under my belt.

Help me defeat Senator Dick Lugar by contributing $35, $50, or $100 and let him know that you haven't been "duped" into your conservative values but wholeheartedly endorse them.

If you believe, as I do, that a movement toward Constitutional conservatism needs to be reborn in the United States Senate, than please help me today!!

Sincerely,

Richard Mourdock Indiana State Treasurer and Republican Candidate for U.S. Senate

P.S. In an email this month, Dick Lugar called conservatives who support my campaign "Duped." If you've been "Duped," I am counting on you to respond with a $50 contribution today.

“In countering Senator Lugars sentiment that conservatives are “duped”, conservative voters are telling Senator Lugar that they are not “duped” and that he is “f&#ked.”

Does Lugar have a strong organization?

Mitch Daniels was trained by Lugar so he might endorse or support him with his network behind the scenes.

Some are saying this may be like Charlie Crist in FL... A high profile candidate but once the TEA party makes it over the peak we can win.

Lugar’s conservative values?

Lugar was the first Republican to announce his support for Marxist Sotomayor and also voted for Kagen. Lugar is a flaming RINO.

Of course, Lug will run and win as an Indie, putting the BASE into a funk. When will RINOS realize they are not the BASE anymore? They always want conservs to support them but they never do so for the conservs who win. It is sickening. I hope Lug. just retires.

RINOs were never the majority or the base, they were and are Democrats who could not get elected as democrats

I was under the impression Indiana has a sore loser law and if Lugar loses in the primary he can not run as an independent or for another party.
