Breaking: Trump won’t run
Hotair ^ | May 16,2011 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 05/16/2011 10:12:49 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Does this mean that Donald Trump’s media tour was nothing more than a self-serving publicity stunt? Perish the thought:

Donald Trump announced Monday that he will not run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Despite months of speculation and a brief pop in the polls, Trump said in a statement that he was “not ready to leave the private sector.”

Nothing proved that more than his oxygen-sucking clown act in pandering to conspiracy theorists. Did anyone seriously think that Trump was serious about running for the nomination?

Hardest hit — Charles Krauthammer?

Good news, if he sticks to his decision, which I sincerely hope he does.

He’s a crazy wild card.

We don’t need crazy wild cards.

We need a solid conservative we can all get behind to take our country back.

I knew Trump wasn’t serious. Just as well. Personally, I don’t think he would have been the candidate the Republicans so desperately need.

I’m guessing that what Hojczyk is thinking is that as the losers drop by the wayside the pathway clears for the one winner out there.

No surprise here. I have said since the Trump phenomenon started that Trump was playing an angle, that he was in it for himself, and wasn’t serious as a candidate. The billionaire with a bad haircut is nothing but a shameless self promoter, and he got out of this little farce whatever he wanted and now he’s done. Good riddance. And to Huckaphony too. If we could just get rid of Romney and Gingrich... Prediction: Palin will bow out too. She’s making too much money with her newfound celebrity, and wont want to subject herself to a bruising primary campaign.

The real front Republican front runner isn’t on the radar yet.

They know better than to come out fast. They saw what happened to Palin.

The MSM saw she was capable and strong, they had to destroy her with the most inane garbage I’ve ever seen.

Palin is proof the MSM hates conservatives.

You haven't been paying attention to what she's been doing lately, have you? Money and celebrity mean nothing to her. She's out to bring Obama down hard. Everything she does must be considered in that context.

Well, maybe the Republican candidate is unknown right now. You never know.

At this point in the 1976 election cycle, Jimmy Carter was unknown to most Americans.

Ditto Bill Clinton, at this point in the run up to the 1992 campaign.

Divided fields without a clear front runner can produce a candidate who no one could have predicted would emerge.

If there is a Republican out there like this, I sure hope he/she has strong conservative credentials, and can clearly articulate the differences between conservative policies and Obamaism. And, can articulate why the conservative policies are superior to Obamanation type policies.

Being filmed going fishing with Kate Plus 8 is “bringing Obama down hard?” Please. She is such a lightweight she doesn’t even register on the scale.

1. I like the Donald.

2. I wanted him to run so I could see the Palinistas heads implode and explode, both at the same time.

Crumbs. I had already purchased the popcorn.

3. Shame on you, Donald. You robbed me of some hilarious fun. Could you reconsider?

That’s why the left is on 24/7 attack. Because she’s a lightweight? Weird. I don’t see them spending much time on Santorum, Paul, or Pawlenty? They are ignored because they pose zero threat.

I certainly hope he sticks to this decision.

I was worried he’d go independent and assure a Baraq win with a Clintonian plurality.

I guess you did not understand that each of the eight episodes had a clear Conservative political point. The "Kate Plus 8" crossover clearly demonstrated the differences between independent-minded Conservatives like the Palins (who can take care of themselves) and whiny, nasty liberals like Gosselin, who fell apart only hours after being taken out of her urban, government "protected" environment.

Sarah Palin is hardly a lightweight. If she was, then why is she still standing after all that has been hurled at her by the Rats, by the MSM, and by her own backstabbing party?
