It does seem silly to cut your customer base. I bet that Buffett begged to differ about what he was doing, since after all he wasn’t carrying on these “family planning” missions to Europe and Japan, but to dark corners of Africa and Asia where “people are suffering from overcrowding.” But still, doesn’t it seem more humane to help them grow out of their problems rather than die out of them?
What people like Buffet refuse to see is that the problem isn’t too many people, but too much corruption.
Too many famines and too much disease are caused by bad planning and decision making, and repressive, corrupt governments.
