Breaking law OK, if it's law liberals don't like

Jessica Colotl, in many ways, is exactly the kind of person we wish we had more of in this country. She's bright, ambitious, a good student and interested in civic affairs.

"I am no different than any other American," she told the Atlanta newspaper this week.

Maybe not, except for one little thing: Ms. Colotl has spent most of her life in this country illegally, and arrogantly thinks the laws that apply to everyone else - and especially those that apply to foreign nationals who want to become citizens of this country - shouldn't apply to her.

Ms. Colotl, you'll recall, is the Kennesaw State University student who was arrested last spring for a minor traffic violation on campus, then lied to police about her residency status in this country. As it turns out, she was brought here as a young child from Mexico by her illegal alien parents, grew up in metro Atlanta and now is more American than Mexican. After her arrest, and after becoming a cause cel bre in liberal circles, she was granted a one-year "humanitarian" extension in this country to finish her studies.

That leave was to have expired on Thursday. But not to worry: The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency granted her another one-year extension. Why? Good question. She has now completed her degree at KSU and plans to graduate next week. There is no longer a valid reason for such an extension.

Ahh, but there are political ones. Ms. Colotl, as we mentioned, is now a cause cel bre, a victim of those backward souls who think our laws are meant to be enforced - and enforced equally, not selectively. And oh, by the way, President Obama last Friday threw his backing behind another attempt to pass the DREAM amnesty act,

Only in the United States can you be a political celebrity, a harsh critic of the law and an illegal alien all at once. Amen to that !

A friend of mine overstayed his visa in the Philippines. They tracked him down and escorted him to the airport and put him on a plane to the U.S.

The Mexican Army patrols their southern border. They are willing to shoot to prevent Guatemalans trying to sneak in.

Most countries in Asia have detention camps for people who do not have proper paperwork.

Democrats disregard every immigration law; they simply hope the illegal can be bought off and vote D!

Go home, apply for a visa, and come back when you are legal.

Just look at Meg Whitman’s illegal. Phony papers. Someone else’s SSAN. Result? Whitman has this tool used against her by Gloria Allred and a Teacher’s Union, and loses [not for those reasons only]the election. The illegal? Undeported, un- jailed and the recipient of some half-assed award. As the Russian comic used to say, “What a Country!”

We’ve been telling these people for decades that they’re victims.

And now everyone is shocked that self entitled and self righteous?

What did everyone expect to happen?

And what would liberals say if I refused to pay millions of dollars government extorted taxes?

Hell...
Even targeted assassinations and ordering an American Citizen to be killed on sight is no longer illegal if DONE-WHILE-DEMOCRAT.

Your headline also applies to too many conservatives here at FR, who argue that they have a right to break tax laws they don’t like, since taxes are too high.

Someone needs to ask her point blank:What is wrong with Mexico? Why can’t you build a better life there? Carlos Slim is Mexican and the wealthiest man in the world, so it must not be that bad.

So why am I not surprised??? The Dem have been doing this for years, if you don't like a law ignore it. Laws are for stupid people, Las Vegas is full of people just like that, and if you are a driver here you had better watch out, as a great mass of the scoff Laws are out driving.

There are cultures with no tradition of compliance with state enforced mechanism.

We will become one of them soon.

No small accomplishment.

millions of people violate speed limit laws every day but you would be hard pressed to find a significant number who’d say that the law shouldn’t be enforced at all.

More American than Mexican? What is that? There is a test for this?

'Well, we did some blood work, and the results show a marked improvement. You are now at 47 percent, a gain of 7%. Keep up the good work and remember, No tacos.'

No one is talking about taxes or speed laws here. Stick to the issue.

Ms. Colotl has no interest in applying for citizenship by the usual route... In the wake of her latest extension, Ms. Colotl said she hopes to work for a year and then go to law school.

She's no more an American by spirit than she is by documentation. She should be deported immediately and barred from reentry.

This is about Holder's DOJ ignoring the repeated failure of DREAM to pass congress and using fiat action to make it happen. It's another example of the gross imperialism that typifies the Obama regime.

“”I am no different than any other American,”

She’s a LIAR. She isn’t a US citizen and that DOES make her different. She needs to be blaming her parents and not us. She makes me sick

I think I found the problem. Student + Civic Affairs.

A good little communist. She needs to be more interested in the 3 R’s and studies related to becoming a productive citizen.

I would guess her dream is to become a community organizer just like her hero....guess who?
