Almost makes one wonder if the pilot that made the decision to eject the Moose limbs in Memphis was on to something.Yes, it does. Could be the airlines have heard something they're not telling it's passengers. Wouldn't want to lose those jacked up bagage fees.

Thanks for the info. My great grandmother hailed from Water Valley, Mississippi (100% Choctaw)...was relocated to Indian Territory. My mother was born in Poteau in 1920. I think it is awesome you know your great grandmother's history. I was told time and again by my grandmother that her grandmother was, her words, 'full blood Cherokee'. Other than her name, which strangely is an English name, I have not been able to find anything else about this woman. I sure wish now I had been wise enough to ask more questions.

A lot of us Americans would find it difficult to hyphinate our “breed” because of the ancestors who are in our lineage. Most of us are a mix of many locals from all corners of the world. I love meeting another FULL BLOWN “Heinz 57” AMERICAN. Hello FRiend.

Until 1924 we were not citizens of these United States. We were required to adopt a European name rather than use the name from our villages at the transition of citizenship. If your mother knew your great grandmothers name, maybe you can trace her through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. IF the Army took the names of the people being transferred to Indian Territory.

This is my father's mother, my grandmother, who has long since returned to the Maker. Her grandmother, (mygggrandmother) she described, would have lived in the early to mid-1800's. TN is where this branch of my ancestors met up. My grandmother would always describe her grandmother with 'a full blood Cherokee'. I was not wise enough to ask more specific questions.
