OKLAHOMA CITY – While he did not point to any particular Transportation Security Administration policy, TSA spokesman Luis Casanova told Red Dirt Report that this reporter’s experience with a double pat-down on Sunday, May 1, 2011 was appropriate.
Casanova, who is based at the TSA’s office in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and speaks for the agency regarding TSA-related matters in Texas and Oklahoma, responded to our story “TSA ‘doubles their pleasure’ at Corpus Christi airport” and said that when the TSA trainee mumbled that he was “training” it was indeed true. However, Casanova admitted that the agent he spoke to at the Corpus Christi International Airport may not have fully explained that I was to be patted-down twice – once by the trainee and again by the TSA officer on duty, per federal rules.
This is true. The trainee did little in speaking clearly to me or fully explaining my rights or what was going to be done other than to warn me before he patted my “sensitive areas.”
