Egyptian Justice Minister Mohammed el-Guindi on Saturday said that former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will face the death penalty if convicted of ordering the shooting of demonstrators, the Associated Press reported.

Guindi told Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram, "Certainly, if convicted for the crime of killing protesters, it could result in the death sentence," according to the report.

Additionally, he said that Mubarak had made corruption the chief "discourse" of his government. Mubarak, his wife and two sons are all facing corruption charges.

Vital to a conviction for opening fire on protesters, Guindi said, was whether former Egyptian interior minister Habib el-Adly was willing to testify that Mubarak gave him the order.

On Thursday, Gamal Mubarak said that his father, Hosni Mubarak, did not instruct troops to shoot at demonstrators, Al Masri Al Youm reported.

This announcement is going to cause both Gaddaffi and Assad to double down. At this point, what do they have to gain from stepping down or even reconciling with the protesters?

Huh. Since when is "killing protesters" a crime in Egypt? Copts protest, are murdered by one or more Moslems, the matter is closed.

So the military chiefs that made the Mubarak dictatorship, always having a place at the seat of power since Nasser, are now going to change the laws, after the fact, and “convict” the man they dumped so they could hoist up the MB in his place.

Looks like it.But, as far as the main stream media goes, who gives a damn? The Democrats are in power and the World is now a paradise that would make the Garden of Eden a slum by comparsion.

If the muslim brotherhood want to cut off a few heads, well, boys have to have some fun now and again.

Now, if President Bush was still in the WhiteHouse it would be a horse of a different color. The main stream media would still be having hissy fits.
