Via the Hill, Trump’s only half the story here. The other half is that Franklin Graham seems more enthused about him than he does about Palin, whom he traveled to Haiti with a few months ago. Quote: “[T]he more you listen to him [Trump], the more you say to yourself, you know, maybe this guy’s right.” Really? What is it that he’s right about? Using political connections to boot people out of their homes so that he can develop their property, or starting a trade war with China to show ‘em who’s boss?
Some reporter needs to corner Gingrich at his next public appearance and really get him going on the Trump boomlet. For all the buzz lately about how the Donald is supposedly filling Palin’s niche, it’s Newt who shares the social-con liability with him of having multiple marriages and it’s Newt, more than any other major candidate, who’s attacked Obama as someone essentially foreign to America. After months of hearing how his personal foibles might pose an insuperable obstacle with the Christian base, I bet he’d have choice words for Billy Graham’s son suddenly giving Trump the green light after a month of Birther rhetoric.
Franklin, I thought you were better than that....
Gingrich, oh yeah.
Uh huh.
He should stick to what he does best (HINT: It ain’t politics)
Given Trump’s casual view of eminent domain, this would almost be like voting for Ahab and Jezebel. A biblically studied Christian should know better.
Trump is not a conservative. Why are conservatives even considering supporting/voting for someone who is not a conservative?
A prophet of God (whether foreteller or “forthteller”) may jolly well have legitimate things to say about politicians.
I want one of those âWhores for Trumpâ, t-shirts, got to be a collectors item.
Conservatives support Trump for his economic rants against China, rhetoric concerning foreign oil, and his confrontational, heads-on approach to those who would demean our country’s future. That is why many conservatives overlook his obvious faults. His guts to say what is âpolitically incorrectâ is a breath of fresh air. Especially when the current republican candidates seem to be afraid to tell the truth about Obamas agenda.
The good Reverend is experiencing what many others are, witness Trump's standings in the polls. I'm sure the anti-Trump brigade will soon appear to help us understand that Reverend Graham is a "naive fool", "Obama supporter", "socialist pig", "anti-Christian"......
These are not ordinary times. We need somebody this time who doesn’t fit the mold. Palin or Trump will do, may the best candidate win.
Allahputz is making quite the leap here...what is Graham supposed to say when someone asks him about Trump (probably to fabricate some sort of non-existent rift with Palin)?
didn’t trump call for a canadian style healthcare system?
Easy answer...Trump does political theater conservative style like no other. Right now most conservatives are desperately looking for a standard bearer. Trump is giving them what they want to hear. I empathize w/ the predicament tho. Look at the crop of republican and conservative candidates, they make day old cold oatmeal seem appealing.
All well and good, but Trump is still not a conservative. His protectionist positions on China along with his support of taxes on the wealthy, Canadian style single payer socialized health care, and other liberal positions make him much more a progressive populist than a conservative. Trump belongs in the Democratic primary running against Obama for the Democratic nomination for President, not in a Republican primary trying to pretend he's suddenly conservative when his track record clearly shows otherwise.
bttt
Why yes he did. In fact he said he was a liberal on the issue and in fact said that the US should move to a complete government take over of health care in the form of Canadian style, single payer universal healthcare.
Trump also proposed raising 5.7 trillion in new taxes via a "one time only" 14.25% tax on the wealthy.
Yeah, sounds real conservative lol. Again I ask, why are any conservatives throwing their support behind a candidate that is quite obviously not conservative?
