(Reuters) - A Detroit prosecutor has filed a petition in district court to stop a Florida fundamentalist Christian preacher, who recently caused riots in Afghanistan after he burned a Koran, from holding a rally outside a large Michigan mosque.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said the threat of violence was too great to allow Terry Jones to hold the planned gathering on Friday near the Islamic Center of America -- the largest U.S. mosque -- in the heavily Muslim Detroit suburb of Dearborn.
A hearing on Worthy's bid to block Jones and his supporters from holding the rally at the mosque will be held on Thursday in a Dearborn court. The petition is dated April 15.

The DA is surely grandstanding; there is plenty of case law saying that fear of violence cannot trump free speech rights. This will go nowhere.
And, if parading a swastika(s) down the middle of a predominately Jewish neighborhood is not considered "fighting words" (and it's not), then burning a Koran or just assembling outside a Mosque or in a Muslim neighborhood surely isn't either.
I wish I was as confident. Over the past two plus years, I've seen far too many things I believed couldn't happen, happen. Whether it's a matter of hate speech, or "racial" discrimination against Muslims, or just that the prosecutor is black and in Detroit, there'll be some exception that makes this "unique".

Worthy is just too lazy to risk a violent reaction. She does not want to have to deal with a negative outcome which as far as I know, has not been guaranteed unless Worthy herself is saying that it’s a foregone conclusion.

Jihad-crazed Arabs running around like raped apes caused the riots.
After 9-11 Muslims in Dearbornistan gathered in the streets and rejoiced as shop keepers handed out sweets. In Dearboristan high School classes emptied as cheering delirious students romped about the halls.
If the reverend would have had a Koran burning a major riot would surely have followed. This would have finally lifted the veil, so to speak, on this home grown center of Islamic fanaticism and hatred.
