Real estate developer Donald Trump officially changed his party affiliation on Monday to the Independence Party, New Yorks version of the Reform Party.

Trump had his voter registration form hand delivered to the New York County Board of Elections on Monday, officially putting him in the New York branch of the Reform Party, according to his political adviser Roger Stone.

Stone told CNN that Trump will soon begin travelling to Miami, Los Angeles and other cities to meet with Reform Party leaders to assess the prospects of winning the partys presidential nomination.

If Trump really wants to save the United States, he should run as an independent and WIN. That way he is not beholden to any special interests, party interests, or any other interests. Bear in mind Trump has not received any $$$ from RNC because he has never ran for office before.

You sure that a 1999 story should not be in breaking news. !!!!! The desperation here sound like nails on a chalk board.

Surely you’re not supporting a former member and presidential candidate from the Reform Party as the GOP’s great white hope, are you?

Obviously the Liberal Media...and the Obama Supporters...are just doing anything to discredit Trump

So, Trump was going to vote for Buchanan?

More proof, I guess, that the GOP is working for Obama in 2012

Desperation is right. They are taking every liberal media story about Trump and posting it everywhere.

I am waiting for the “Donald Trump Starts Pro Football Team OUTSIDE The NFL” stories from the 1980’s to pop up

So, Trump was going to vote for Buchanan?

No, he was going to run against him for the Reform Party's nomination as its presidential candidate.

And you would still support and vote for him knowing this now?

I bet you didn’t mind voting for the Soros-funded GOP candidate in 2008, did ya? That was John McCain

Not voting for someone because they were once in the Reform Party is really desperate. Ronald Reagan was once a Democrat

Trump gets around. Registered Republican, then onto the Reform Party. Along the way I heard Trump was a Democrat too. What an unprincipled lout.

Trump supported Kerry over Bush43 in 2004 and first went for Hillary in 2008. Trump has stated, Bush43 was “evil” and Obama would make a “great” president.

Anyone who takes Trump seriously, is lying to themselves.

Reagan never ran as the Rat candidate.

And I didn't vote for McCain, I voted for Palin.

The truth hurts doesn't it?

Not good enough. Google "Trump" and "Reform Party" and see how many hits come up.

You can't run from hard cold facts.

Using Reagan to cover for Trump is really despicable.

Reagan was a Democrat...and a Union Boss, too. Even worked for GE

You voted for McCain, and Soros. Pretty weak you cannot admit who you voted for

You call CNN “the Truth”. The Truth was a kickoff returner for the Tampa Bay Bucs

Using a CNN article from 1999 is really desperate.

And, I bet you think the Obama COLB is legit, too

No, I said I voted for Palin. Ask how many other FReepers voted for her rather than McQueeg as well.

And have you gogled "Trump" and "Reform Party" yet?

Here's another good one...

Buchanan And Trump Jilt GOP

From the story...

"Trump, meanwhile, wasted no time attacking Buchanan.

"He's got a certain group of little wacky people on the very far right," Trump said.

Trump, who said talk show host Oprah Winfrey would be an ideal running mate, has not announced whether he will seek the Reform Party nomination. The casino owner has said he would do so if he was sure he could win."
