Robert Redford On Sarah Palin: ‘Part Of Her Strength Is How Limited She Is’
mediaite ^ | 4/14/11 | Jon Bershad

In an interview to promote his new film The Conspirator, Robert Redford had some interesting thoughts on Sarah Palin as well as her followers. Ouch. It’s one thing to get picked on by the Bill Maher’s and David Letterman’s of the world. I mean, that’s gotta stink but a public figure can get over it. However, to get dissed by the freakin’ Sundance Kid. Now that’s got to hurt.

The interview was for Aol’s PopEater and the comments in question came as the discussion turned to Redford’s great film Quiz Show (if you haven’t seen that one, you’re missing out) about the quiz show scandals of the 1950s. Here’s what he had to say and how it got back to Mama Grizzlie:

“REDFORD: I felt like in that moment in history the quiz shows and the scandal that came, at that moment entertainment got exposed but academia got exposed, the corruption. The sad thing is it didn’t hurt entertainment, it hurt academia.

POPEATER: Well I find it sad that Sarah Palin insinuates that higher education is elitist. I can’t work that one out.

REDFORD: Well, I can because the country is made up of three categories. Traditionalists, cultural creative people and the moderns. The moderns are the hi-tech Silicon Valley people. The traditionalists on the lower end of it are the people who don’t want change, they’re afraid of change therefore they have anger. The fear card is a very big powerful card and when you have people afraid of change; they’ll do anything to prevent it. They’re doing it because they’re limited, frightened of people who are not as limited. I think Sarah Palin, part of her strength is how limited she is.”

Hey..that describes his acting. Maybe he means it as a compliment.

I saw him deliver a commencement speech in 2005. It was an incomprehensible, rambling diatribe. He still thought he was in character for All The President's Men.

It was a sad spectacle made worse by being delivered on a sweltering day.

The traditionalists on the lower end of it are the people who don’t want change, they’re afraid of change

because the kind of change that libtards want is incompatible with life proper to a rational being

It’s very simple. Having advanced degrees from expensive and socially tony schools is not the same as being well educated, and neither is the same as being smart. Just because Governor Palin worked her way through several colleges to her bachelor’s degree, then went out to start a family, work in her husband’s business, and then go into politics, doesn’t mean she’s stupider than President Obama (Punahou/Oxy/Columbia/Harvard Law). I think the opposite should be manifest by now.

Afraid of change? What’s wrong with conserving what is good and time honored? That’s called being conservative.

Second rate washed up actor, with a second rate mental capacity to understand anything other than his ego.

ROBERT REDFORD This is perfect. Why didn’t we think of it sooner? This town still has some charm left, not the mess we turned Park City into.

PHYLLIS Forgive me for being observant, but, won’t we just end up doing the same thing to this town?

ROBERT REDFORD Yes. And the town after, and the town after that. Like termites, we will move this film festival from town to town until we have used it up. And then move on, until every quiet mountain town is like Los Angeles.

PHYLLIS Why? Why would we do such a thing?

ROBERT REDFORD Because we have to live in L.A. And if we can’t live in quiet, simple, peaceful mountain towns, then nobody will! Waitwaitwait. Zoom in to a close-up of my face when I do that. Ready? Then NOBODY will! That’s it.

“..I just hope and pray we can get the stinking changes he made changed back to where we were..”

Sadly no. He is causing irreparable damage. And no the idiots will not wake up because they keep watching TV and ALL TV, including Fox, covers for him and supports him.

If you watch YV - your cable or sat TV bill supports him and that is a FACT.

What tells me that we were once a Great Society is that an actor such as Redford, whose talent was so limited, was able to make it big in entertainment.

Redford exemplifies success doesn’t necessarily require intelligence.
