Chapel Hill, N.C. An alleged hate crime against a gay student on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus last week was false, officials said Tuesday.
Chancellor Holden Thorp said a student who told authorities he was branded with a searing hot object because of his sexual orientation filed a false police report and that it will not be reported as a hate crime.
Quinn Matney, who is gay, told authorities April 5 that a man walked up to him near a foot bridge on campus, called him a derogatory name, told him "here is a taste of hell," and held a heated object to his skin for several seconds, leaving third- and fourth-degree burns.

So what happens to the q***r? Considering what would have happened to whomever got blamed for this, he should be expelled at the very least.
Definitely should be charged with filing a false police report and tossed out of school, IMHO.
“Who is gay” - you take that back. Sure, maybe they experimented a little in college, but you’re trashing a whole band here. Try saying ‘Rolling Stones is gay’ and see the trouble that causes.
It hurt soo bad, I nearly cried!
A deliberately false hate crime is, by definition, a hate crime against the class of intended victims. In this case, it must be against religious people (Christian, Muslim, etc.) because he said he was told told him “here is a taste of hell.”
In fact, of course, “hate crimes” are fundamentally illegal under the Constitution as they comprise thought crimes. But if you’re going to have them, then thy should be applied equally.
On the other hand, illegal crimes are not created to be applied equally, now are they?
Can you say Drama Queen?
Who is gay
“Yes”
“Yes is gay”
“No Who”
“Who”
“Yes”
And so on...
Probably his boyfriend recently left him and he was trying to draw attention to his pathetic self. Or something.
University officials initially called the assault a hate crime and pledged to "bring the strongest possible charges against the attacker."I agree. Lock him away forever.
Agree. If “hate crimes” deserve more severe punishments than the “hate-free” versions of the same crimes, shouldn’t filing a false hate crime report be treated far more seriously than filing an ordinary false report?
His punishment should be getting branded with a searing hot object.
Notice how the protected classes of hate crime legislation are constantly getting caught falsifying hate crimes? Makes you wonder how many aren't getting caught.
Come all without, come all within
You'll not see nothing like the Crispy Quinn
Oh, the angst...you can’t possibly imagine the angst.
But it could have been true.
Well, there’s probably somebody on that campus who would like to have done those things to a gay guy, so the imagined trauma could be just as bad. Give him a paid week-end at Myrtle Beach to recuperate.
A third degree burn, maybe, but a fourth degree burn (muscle and bone burned) I rather doubt.
I think if people report false crimes and it’s discovered, they need to suffer the same punishment as if they committed the crime.
This kind of bullsh1t destroys the justice system and wastes time and money and incites people against one another on totally fabricated lies. They are sociopathic terrorists.
Sounds like a hate crime, the fag hated straight people.
