A deliberately false hate crime is, by definition, a hate crime against the class of intended victims. In this case, it must be against religious people (Christian, Muslim, etc.) because he said he was told told him “here is a taste of hell.”

In fact, of course, “hate crimes” are fundamentally illegal under the Constitution as they comprise thought crimes. But if you’re going to have them, then thy should be applied equally.

On the other hand, illegal crimes are not created to be applied equally, now are they?
