My brother, Rush, said on his program Thursday that Donald Trump, in taking the fight directly to President Obama, has provided a winning blueprint for defeating him in 2012.
Rush was referring to the way in which Trump -- think what you will about him and his politics -- has boldly challenged President Obama on a number of issues, including the notorious birth certificate fracas, obviously unconcerned about fallout from the liberal media.
The issue here is not Obama's birth certificate; it is Trump's aggressive, offensive posture in challenging Obama across the board. He rightly recognizes that America's financial condition is in shambles and contends that Obama's incoherent approach to foreign policy is making the U.S. a laughingstock in the international community.
Trump is not my candidate for a number of reasons, including that I don't believe he's been reliably conservative over the years, but I have no doubt that Republicans can learn great lessons from his direct, fearless approach.

This is very true, but we do not have a candidate that has his aura. Most of them have already neutered themselves by declaring the BC issue a distraction.
Cain is about the only one who hasn’t other than The Donald.
But...I will gladly trade the sloppy unpapered mutt in the big dawg house anyday for the fine authentically black Lab conservative Herman Cain.
As I see it at this juncture, potential pubbie candidates include a sizable number who never found the cajones to say the first word about the big problem in the story, and one guy who did. Easy, easy choice.

Perfect. In theory Rush is absolutely right but for whatever of many reasons, it’s only in Trump that up the middle comes natually, from his core, outward. In the rest of our esteemed wannabes’ Trump’s combination of both thrust and laser know-how are not all that equal. These attributes in Trump are found to be precision sharp by his very nature. And, most of all, he’s right when he says he’s smart. We all like his style when he is on our side.
Sad part is he’s saying all the right things but he tends to wander into being a cartoon at times. He’s still useful though.
