I said when she was hired for the gig that she wouldn't last long because she isn't taken seriously by serious people. So the people who should be fired are those who hired her in the first place.

To be fair, Couric isn't the real problem at CBS News. She's the symptom of the problem. The suits at CBS think it's the person sitting in the anchor chair reading a teleprompter that makes the difference. These people see everything in terms of Edward R. Murrow. The Executive Staff at CBS News are dinosaurs.

CBS News has three problems:
1. Content
2. Content
3. Content

“CBS News has three problems:”

Actually, it’s the format itself that is dead, and nothing can save it. Nightly “news”, just like daily “news”papers and weekly “news” magazines, is as obsolete as the dodo bird. There’re now multiple ways to keep up with the “news” as it happens in real time or near real time, so by the time one reads something that is printed or listens to a nightly “news” extract, there’s nothing new at all about it.

Pretty much the only folks still watching ABCCBSNBC are the ones that were watching when Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley, and Harry Reasoner were being broadcast. As one poster said here a few days ago, “ABCCBSNBC nightly news loses a bit of their market share every time another body bag is wheeled out of a nursing home.”
