The day after his inauguration, President Obama promised a new era of “openness in government.”
But the reality has not matched the president’s rhetoric. We, presidents of two of the nation’s largest journalism organizations, and many of our thousands of members, have found little openness since Obama took office. If anything, the administration has gone in the opposite direction: imposing restrictions on reporters’ newsgathering that exceed even the constraints put in place by President George W. Bush.
Democrats criticized the Bush administration for not making decisions based on the best science. But the Obama administration now muzzles scientists and experts within federal agencies. When they are allowed to talk about important public-health issues, a chaperone often supervises every word.
We understand that responding to the media takes time, that online news outlets and blogs have proliferated and that cash-strapped agencies need to manage carefully their staffers’ time. But if the focus were on openness rather than control, these challenges could be met successfully.
We encourage the Obama administration to pledge to answer reporters’ questions more quickly and with fewer scripted answers from political appointees. We hope it will put more effort into releasing information rather than punishing those who leak it. We look forward to the day when scientists and experts can once again be free to share their knowledge, without fear of retribution or scolding.
“Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their government is doing.” Those were President Obama’s own words when he took office.

Openness and secretiveness is like truth and lying. It is easy to always tell the truth because you need not hesitate - just say what you know. When lying, you always hesitate, to make sure you don’t slip up and let the cat out of the bag that you lie.
Similarly with openness... if you are virtuous, you can be open fluently. If you are secretive, you can feign openness but you cannot be so, because you are always on guard for any revealing mistakes that can indicate you are secretive.
To prove this I ask a simple question:
Has anyone ever heard a speech where he did not lie?
I haven't.
Sure...openness would be nice...but let it come from the journalists first. Print what is really being done (and not done) by this impostor. Stop the hypnotized writers and commentators from repeating their outright lies and scams that got this incompetent fraud into the White House. Wake them to their incessant adoration that did not and still does not allow them to expose the reality of a president who was not and never will be qualified to run anything. So many of you are the culprits for falling for Obama's lies and now you can't even admit your own gullibility. Let's put the blame in the right place. Sure, Obama never intended to do or be what he said. But, you, the media, fell for it all...hook, line and sinker.

The fact that Ornstein and Limor write this just emphasizes how ridiculous the Lame Stream Media is today.
They write this but don’t change their attitude. Therefore, empty words.
Their writing this will have zero affect.
However, the recent spate of outraged criticisms against their lord from Obama cult members are actually cries of personal anguish and disappointment more than anything else. They see more and more the feet of clay of their idol and it's destroying them.
They've invested so much of their hopes, fears, love, adoration, loyalty and slavish devotion in Obama that his increasing descent into being just a human instead of a divinity is almost impossible to bear.
We'll be seeing more of these scribblings of personal emotions disguised as stern critiques, chidings and scoldings as the president plungers lower in the polls.
We have to remember these "criticisms" are written in nervous sorrow, not true enlightened anger. Every failure of Obama is like a cold knife plunged into the heart of his cultists. Every slam against him by the leftist media is not a slam at all....between the lines they are heartwrenching pleas to him not to screw up.....because when he fails and falls, his slavish worshipers and true believers will fail and fall also....as will their passionate dreams of a socialist utopia on earth.
