Been away for awhile from posting on FreeRepublic. I come back to find it now reads like the typical liberal blog.

Hmm, interesting reply.

I had just assumed that this was a real news story that was put into BREAKING NEWS and given the title MAJOR AIRSHOW DISASTER!! as a sort of April Fool’s Day joke. Sorry if that was an incorrect assumption.

I know this is a couple of days later, but these storms we had were wild. A ton of storm damage, and not just at Sun N’Fun (which is a great show). I saw streets totally flooded with cars floating.

At SNF almost 40 planes were destroyed. If you’ve ever been there, it’s a giant field full of people and planes. Planes flying all over the place in hurricane force winds must have been terrifying.

We lost our porch roof.

Some friends and former customers of mine are down there. I hope Betty and Doug Hempstead of Fantasy Air are OK. Gone up in their neat little LSA out of Sanford-Lee County Airport several times.

My niece lives near Lakeland and sent me photos of damage to her mobile home park but she didn’t say anything about this wipeout...

I heard from Sebastien - they were all fine, but three planes didn’t make it. The 601 (now 650 in new kits) has a beefy fix available (and ongoing) for the wings. Freeper Tigerized has one of those planes, so he can tell you all about it. :)

dis·as·ter dəˈzastər/ noun 1-A sudden event, such as an accident or a natural catastrophe, that causes great damage OR loss of life. 2-an event or fact that has unfortunate consequences. This was a disaster and by the grace of God no one was killed.
