Good news, except now what for Kosovo? They can't support themselves; organized crime is running the government; they can't protect their phony "sovereignty" without NATO. In short, they are screwed.

Leaving Clinton’s worthless war to make room for Obama’s.

CAn anyone post when Camp Bondsteel was built?

Wikipedia talks about the helicopter pads (52) built in 1999.

My guestimate is the base dated from the mid-1990s which makes it 15 years old. Not too bad for a “temporary deployment’ to ensure security for the locals.

Wonder if we will beat that record in Libya or where ever Obama decides we must go next.

It began being built within a month of the end of the NATO Bombing campaign. I believe it was in June or July 1999. But at the time there were those in the military who said that Bondsteel was on the drawing board for years.

One of my friends who researched it said, “Kosovo war cost at least $40 billion and Camp Bondsteel apparently cost $350 million to build and runs at a cost of $148 million a year.”

That doesn’t count the cost of our political support for Kosovo independence, nor the financial aid we send to Kosovo every year as a result of our intervention to get this built.

Cutting every dime to Kososvo should be a given in the next budget.

Any Republican who attempts to keep this going is fueling his own primary oponents, and the tea parties will make that happen.

THe site of Camp Bondsteel had it’s first day of operations on June 16th, 1999.

There were some units on the ground a few days earlier than that.

Every person I personally know who has gone through a deployment at Bondsteel has returned to the US having lost all faith in the US government. It’s a really wicked endeavour to have US soldiers protecting a local population that are controlled by either drug or sex slave smugglers, or the subservient farmer class relatives of those smugglers, and the whole time having US taxpayers pay the smugglers to form government services which are completely corrupted graft operations.

What’s it gonna take for Serbia to feel secure enough to retake that place?

It probably is time to transition out of Kosovo. That being said, we went in for the right reason: to save Kosovars from being massacred by the Serbs.

Serbia has now been reduced to its basic appropriate size and NATO deterrence should ensure the Serbs don’t try anything.

It probably is time to transition out of Kosovo. That being said, we went in for the right reason: to save Kosovars from being massacred by the Serbs.

2500 people on all sides had died before we got there. 10,000 died on all sides during the NATO bombing. After we entered, at least 250,000 Serbs were permanently ethnically cleansed from Kosovo, many were murdered and at least 150 ancient churches were desecrated or destroyed. On our watch, Kosovo was allowed to run 70% of illegal drugs to Europe, as well as human, weapons and organ trafficking.

The truth is that we did no good, and a lot of harm with our intervention, but we were subjected to a mountain of propaganda and most of us didn't know the difference between the truth and the lies.

I was against the NATO Bombing of Kosovo for many of the same reasons that I am against our bombing of Libya -- it isn't in our interest to be there, it will likely do more harm than good -- and I don't have to like or defend Ghaddafi or Milosevic to know in my gut that it was a bad idea in both cases.

Having kicked out the people that founded the nation, all NATO has to do now is bring in the bull dozers and cover the grave.

Mission accomplished: Christian Nation desoiled.

Thanks Bill and Wesley.

.
That has to rate as the biggest crock of excrement posted here in at least a week. We kicked out the real Kosovars and donated their land to the global islamic drug trade. (and that was the exact reason we did it too)
.
