The Inquisition of Melanie Phillips
FrontPageMag ^ | Mar 25th, 2011 | Robert Spencer

Last week British columnist Melanie Phillips wrote a blogpost at the Spectator entitled “Armchair barbarism,” discussing the brutal jihad murders of the Fogel family in Israel. Her references to the “moral depravity” of the Arab “savages” who committed the crime have gotten her in hot water with Britain’s hyper-PC Press Complaints Commission, which has launched an investigation.

Phillips is being investigated, ironically enough, for writing that “the moral depravity of the Arabs,” as she chose to term the murderers of the Fogels and those in Gaza who celebrated those murders, “is finding a grotesque echo in the moral bankruptcy and worse of the British and American ‘liberal’ media.” And as if on cue, the watchdog organization in Britain of that liberal media swooped down upon her.

The irony was compounded by a further statement in Phillips’ column: “Overwhelmingly, the media have either ignored or downplayed the atrocity – or worse, effectively blamed the victims for bringing it on themselves, describing them as ‘hard-line settlers’ or extremists.” In this case, however, they were not blaming the victim, but blaming the columnist who spoke forthrightly about the nature of the murderers.

This is a time in which women show mo strength than men...
Some few of them are assuming moral guardians (not that they have not always being...), and this is meaningful.

This woman is right, and being right speaks the truth from God.

What about the depravity of Britain’s mostly gutless dhimmis sitting in Parliament countenancing such drivel?

Melanie should bail out of that toilet and come to the United States and write for a conservative website, or sign on with Fox News. Thank God the US isn’t Britain or Canada. She cuts a nice appearance and obviously has the guts to speak the truth.

Here, the scumbag liberal newsrooms are weak and dying.

“COR BLIMEY MATES ‘AV these bloody brits gone completly BONKERS?”

Well, first they turned their backs on God and then did the next logical thing - embraced Socialism.

Oi! Most of us Brits haven’t embraced socialism at all.

We’ve got the same problem you’ve got - a huge state sector, built up by Blair and Brown, which has been engineered through years of red tape and apparatchik appointments at the most senior ranks to be pro-Islam, pro-homosexuality, pro-secular humanist, anti-Christian and anti-Conservative.

With Blair’s wife, Cherie Booth, running the entire “human rights” gravy train from her chambers and making more money out of it than Blair ever dreamed of making.

Blair deceitfully made himself out to be pro-God and pro-Bush and pro-Christian, while being the exact opposite behind the scenes.

Even today he’s welcomed as a friend all over America, and our protests that he was never anything more than a lifelong socialist who was incredibly astute at playing the media are still falling on deaf ears.

People like me spent 10 years protesting that he was undermining Christian values while in office but telling your President the exact opposite on their jollies together... But your MSM didn’t bother to report any of it then and it’s still being disregarded now.

If you want to talk about people going “completely bonkers”, how about casting a critical eye over how come a certain BHO played the exact same soulless style-over-substance spin doctoring tune as Blair did, note for note... and despite having a good ten years worth of evidence of Blair to show that people who do that CANNOT BE TRUSTED, BHO is occupying the White Hut right now and only now do you realise he is cut from the same cloth as Blair.

How does the old saying go?

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...

Sorry I didn’t distinguish the British people from the British government - a serious oversight. Please forgive me.

"the enemy of my enemy is my FRIEND"

Yeah, but...

Realpolitik will always bite you on the ass down the line, if you make the cardinal mistake of interpreting that old adage as, "the enemy of my enemy is my FRIEND even if the enemy of my enemy is *my* enemy". It doesn't work like that with the Middle East.

Saddam Hussein was a strategic "ally" once. So were the Taleban.

The biggest error the West has ever made as regards the Middle East, is to assume that ruling powers / tribal leaders will ever regard the West as anything more than enemies who're dumb enough to keep funding their internal power games and cooking up oil deals that keep regime leaders in plush palaces with collections of racehorses, supercars and their own private armies.

So they throw us a few bones to keep us sweet, and that keeps the dollars coming in.

Mark my words, the Libyan rebels are crying out for our help now and will cry tears of gratitude if Gaddaffi falls, but once they've got their feet under the table we'll be back to being the ENEMY until the elitists need another billion dollars to fund their lavish lifestyles.

What we haven’t seen in Britian is a concomitant movement like America’s Tea Party to take back the country from the Marxists.

How about your Countryside Alliance? Is it still in existence? In your opinion, does it have the horsepower to step up and call out the socialists and smash them?

Furthermore, your writing has some snap, crackle and pop. Have you started a blog to inform your fellow Brits?

Don’t sweat it, you’re forgiven.

After all, I suspect your understanding of where Britain is on the political scale, is far more skewed by the overt and consistent bias on your news networks, than our perception of conservatism / Obamaism in America is skewed by ours.

On a recent trip to America I was flicking through the news channels. One channel had an insanely biased reporting of the Islamicisation report, followed by a dissection of the islamicisation story with three ‘crat pundits denouncing it and mocking the senator involved. That’s not “news”, that’s propaganda!

Another channel was the polar opposite.

On the BBC or Sky News in the UK, we would expect a strictly unbiased report of the story regardless of the politics of the news networks.

Even though the BBC is institutionally pro-Muslim on that story it was obliged to rein in its prejudices in the reporting of the news.

Once the news headlines section finishes, the BBC goes into “analysis” mode and this typically means you get people representing both viewpoints, getting roughly equal air time and being asked to respond to the same questions.

On the face of it this looks fair and impartial, but the editorial bias comes about by virtue of the questions tending to be loaded.

Blog? Moi?! Nah, there’s plenty of people better at that sort of thing than I am.

A lot of people think we’re cutting too hard and too fast, and they’re the ones mobilizing at the grass roots. Witness this weekend’s protests in London.

Being conservative in the UK does require a lot more patience, and pragmatism. The way it works here is that the lefties get in, fight their ideological wars, spend money they don’t have, near-bankrupt the nation, and then the conservatives have to be “the nasty party” for five years or more to get the finances back on track by which time the Left start arguing “you need us because all these guys are doing is trashing the services you rely on”.

This time round I hope we break that idiotic cycle.

The only reason to have a conservative TPM over here would be to assert the coalition government is not going fast enough and not cutting hard enough, but you do need to remember that this is not the USA and some of the biggest problems we have with public spending, cannot be dealt with in the same way.

The time to really kick off the conservative grass roots revolution will be in autumn 2012 when the cuts are beginning to take effect and we’re riding the euphoria of the Olympics.

The Countryside Alliance is still going, but that’s not where it’s at. You guys have the TEA Party, we have coffee mornings at the community center.

Plus, my MP lives three streets down from me, and if I could throw a baseball straight I could hit him on the head from my bedroom window. If I want to lobby a Tory government I just pester the guy when he’s walking the dog.

"Well, first they turned their backs on God and then did the next logical thing - embraced Socialism" That they did RT, THAT THEY DID...you are right and they are fatally wrong on both of these counts. I've never figured out how they turned their back on the blessings of the free enterprise system....the single greatest producer of wealth in world history especially given the spactacular success they've had with it.

GO FIGURE...
