Ain’t buying the Al Qaida angle, not in Libya anyway. And of all dictators in the Middle East this terrorist SOB was the worst for us, much worst than Saddam.

I think of Gaddafi as an aggressive retard, with more money than brains. He couldn't even overrun Chad, a military non-entity. In contrast, Saddam came extremely close to defeating Iran, the traditional regional power, which was armed with the latest American weaponry. Saddam also moved to unify Arabia (and its oil reserves), with the invasion of Kuwait as his first move. All-in-all, Gaddafi is like a street thug compared to Saddam's La Cosa Nostra. But more to the point, Gaddafi had made peace with us, and given up his nukes, whereas Saddam hadn't.
