Yes! We’ve been wanting this for years, and now that the Republicans have a significant majority, it’s going to pass. Perry, bless his heart, has pledged to sign it.

And, yes, the Dems are pulling their hair out. Their best argument is that “thousands” will be “disenfranchised” because they don’t have a picture I.D. Lame, really lame.

I was listening to local talk radio this evening and he was all over this. Apparently the Dems spent all day trying to tack on ridiculous amendment after ridiculous amendment, some of them designed to make this law vulnerable to court challenges. He had live feed from Austin and you could hear bits and pieces of the action.

I'll have to try to check tomorrow and see if any of their amendments got tacked on. They were throwing everything they could think of at this to try and stop it, water it down, or make it useless.
