Out-flippin’-standing.
Now if they would just pass a candidate ID bill.............
A move in the right direction! The Dems tears will be delicious in the morning. :D
If you people in Texas strive to maintain your right to work laws, and continue with passing laws like this, half the population of the US is going to move to TX.
Is that “moving van” Taylor?? :)
Good deal!
Won’t La Raza or CAIR or the unions get an appeals court to declare this an”unconstitutional” affront to the poor (illegal) masses?
I like this voter bill, but Im much more interested in HB 17 authored by Rep Debbie Riddle, which focuses on illegal
immigration directly.
HB 17 concerns the creation of the offense of criminal trespass by an illegal alien and to certain procedures for arresting illegal aliens for committing that criminal offense.
It is languishing in committee of course.
The only immigration bill that seems to be moving forward is HB 12 authored by Rep Burt Solomons. This bill would prevent cities from adopting sanctuary policies. It is out of committee but has not yet been presented to the house.
I do not think Texas Republicans have the political guts to pass any of the immigration bills filed. Except for a few individual Reps they are all OPEN BORDER SLIME.
I’m more interested in tighter control on voting by mail
Outstanding news!
HB295(amongst others) needs some help getting out of committee.
Next comes the typical liberal trick where the ACLU or some such finds an uberliberal judge who will declare a stay and it will have to go through the appeals process. Hopefully, the GOP was talking notes from what was going on in Georgia and have written a law that will pass muster at SCOTUS (iow, impress Justice Kennedy because we know how the other eight will vote).
Here comes another Eric Holder lawsuit 3, 2, 1....
This is good news for a change.
It’s rather funny to watch my fellow citizens moved to push misguided legislation like this. I say misguided, because we should never have gotten to this place, and instead of addressing the root causes, people are trying to address the result.
What did we expect when we allowed motor voter to become law?
What did we expect when we allowed polls to be open for days at a time?
What did we expect when we saw certain groups of people start using absentee ballots?
What did we expect when we allowed our leaders to facilitate illegal immigration into the tens of millions of people?
What did we expect when we saw Hermandad Nacional, ACORN, and other entities register illegals to vote?
What did we expect when we found out dead people and pets were showing up on the registration rolls?
What did we expect when we watched Black Panther thugs stand outside a polling station and get off scot free?
So do we attack any of this? Do we demand our Representatives take corrective measures to end all this? No.
Instead of taking illegal aliens and citizens doing illegal things to task, we put the onus on U. S. Citizens to have a state or federal issued I.D. card, and present it upon demand.
Illegal activity doesn’t even get prosecuted. Illegal aliens have to rape, molest, or kill someone to get kicked out of this nation, and even then it’s a 50/50 if they’ll have to leave or not.
No, we can’t inconvenience anyone but the U. S. Citizen.
Can’t profile in airports. Can’t profile when checking for citizenship status. Can’t even complain when they suck our communities dry.
If there’s a problem, there has to be a program introduced that puts the onus on the U. S. Citizen. Give us a national I. D. card. Make sure we have it on us at all times. Who cares if immigrants keep the papers they are required to keep on them at all times?
Yeah, we can force people to show their I.D. at the polling booths. What we can’t do is ask ourselves how in the sam hell we prospered as a nation before we had to demand such identification.
When we figure that out, we’ll do our damnedest to get back to that, and quit drafting our laws to always put the onus on you and I.
This bill is well meaning. I can see why people want it. It’s still papering over imperfections that we should have corrected decades ago.
The house is falling down, and yet we’re limited to papering over the infrastructure. We have only a limited amount of time left. It’s time to toss the paper and starting getting to the meat of the issues we face as a nation.
Correct everything that led to this problem, then come back and talk to me about my need to carry my papers with me everywhere.
Texas House Speaker Joe Straus Passes New Voter ID Law with Help from Hispanic Caucus.Under the leadership of Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, the Texas Legislature has passed a new Voter ID Bill in both houses. After a long week of delays from House Democrats including over 70 amendments today attempting to slow down the bill, the House voted 101-48 to pass the bill.
This legislation has been demanded by the voters of Texas for several years but has been blocked repeatedly by Democrats. In 2007 the House passed a Voter ID bill but the Senate could not. In 2009 the Senate passed a bill but the House could not because of Democrat stalling tactics. Now, with the support of the 30 member Republican Hispanic Caucus and leadership from the LNRC TX, (Latino National Republican Coalition of Texas) it is passed.
The bill now goes to Texas Governor Rick Perry where it will most likely be signed into law. Because the bill was passed with a 2/3rd majority, it will become the law of Texas immediately.
Rep. Allen Fletcher (R-NW Harris County) told me tonight, "This was a fascinating process. We debated 11 hours and saw a lot of ammendments. But more surprisingly were some comments from Democrat legislators, people who are supposed to be our friends and collegues, who came to the mike and called us racists for wanting to begin the process of securing our voting process." Fletcher continued, "Things changed a little bit when some of the Hispanic Republican Legislators stepped to the mike and spoke of things they had witnessed in Democrat precincts in the past."
This bill certainly is not a be all and end all when it comes to voter fraud and its prevention, but it is a good first step. Now, let's do something about mail in ballot fraud and removing dead people and people who have moved out of the county from voter rolls.
Elections mean things and this bill is proof that a Conservative Legislature can get things done. Good Job!
The Dims know how to work the system; the Pubs don't. What the hell is wrong with them with all the un-Constitutional legislation and executive branch acquiring more power by the week?
Sheesh, we're now involved in another civil war, again? Let them kill each other - I don't give one shit. And by the way, why has the World community ignored the Sudan, if they are so concerned about civilians being killed? WTF? The whole world stinks of hypocracy now.
Western civilization is going down. I hope I die before I see the inevitable.
