Committee of foreign ministers set to run Libya campaign

A statement by a retired UAE air chief also highlighted the geo-political complexities of the anti-Gaddafi coalition.

Speaking at a security seminar in the emirates on Tuesday, general Khaled al Bu-Ainnain said the UAE had originally planned to send 24 fighter jets to enforce the no-fly zone. But it will now limit itself to humanitarian support in revenge for Western powers failing to back the UAE line that unrest in Bahrain is down to Iran.

"The GCC [Gulf Co-operation Council] is supporting Bahrain, and they were not happy at all with the European and American attitude ... They think it's a matter of a civil movement, a matter of democracy. It is much beyond it," he said, according to local media.

"What's going on in Bahrain is beyond the understanding of our Western allies. It is a complete conspiracy of the Iranians."

[from another source] “What’s going on in Bahrain is not like Tunisia or Egypt — it’s a wide Shiite coup supported by Hezbollah, supported by Iran,” Major General Khaled Bu-Ainnain said in an interview on Wednesday. He said he believed that the Gulf Cooperation Council would consider supporting coalition efforts in Libya “if they take a more firm stance in the Iranian and foreign meddling in Bahraini internal affairs and GCC internal affairs in general.”

Our involvement in disassembling Libya is a complete farce. The coalition has no common goals, no common strategy, no long term leadership and no team members that want to really be there. What we have is a bunch of tacticians each marching to the tune of their own country's drum.

Once again, Obama proved that he cannot move the masses simply by showing up.

“...Well, come on generals, let’s move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Now you can go out and get those reds
‘Cause the only good commie is the one that’s dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we’ve blown ‘em all to kingdom come.

And it’s one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don’t ask me, I don’t give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it’s five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain’t no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we’re all gonna die...”

The GCC was what we called a “circle jerk” in the old days.

Tell me, does what you get out of the article make any difference? Did O’bummer call you for advice? Have military think tanks not already covered all the possible scenarios?
Is this the best they can come up with: A no fly zone with targeted activity? What are we fighting for?

Offering the locals a chance to vote to become the 51st State or we are leaving them to fend for themselves would make more sense than what we have done so far.

I think the man is correct, capture some of the computer carrying rebels in Libya and turn them over to Saudis to find the truth.

Hubby says that we should let them sort themselves out, and when a lead country emerges, nuke ‘em. That way we only have to deal with one snake head, not a medusa.
