Setting the Palin Record Straight

It’s truly astonishing the lengths that some will go to in order to try to discredit Sarah Palin. Sure, the left-wing media loons are a given, but what about the folks on the Right who relentlessly brand her as unelectable, unintelligent, unpresidential, and/or unqualified? What is their basis for those assessments? And if she is so darn unelectable—why the need to consistently, near-obsessively attempt to tear her down?

What’s most interesting about the repeated attacks on Palin – from the Left and the Right – is that they are routinely empty. They are often featured in online hit pieces that are void of any reference to her record and/or her contributions over the past two years to discussions of national and international significance. They focus on absurd criticism of her TLC series, which so many elitists deemed anti-intellectual and so many regular Americans deemed relatable. They call her a “quitter” because she resigned from the governorship, but don’t reveal the reality that she was faced with numerous frivolous ethics charges made by political operatives that were costing her state hundreds of thousands of dollars and her staff countless hours to refute. The fact that she made the right decision for Alaska, and that the charges were all ultimately dismissed, get buried under the frenzied need some have to try to sabotage her at all costs.

And let’s not forget the manner in which the authors of these hit pieces so often compile every possible negative quotation on Palin they can find, particularly from the mouths of whom they consider to be the conservative intellectual elite. The quotes are typically nonsensical and/or erroneous, and mark embarrassing moments for those who uttered them, as they tend to reflect a complete lack of awareness of Palin’s accomplishments, writings, and outspoken stand on policy initiatives.

Sadly, there are some posters here I could ask that same question.

If Sarah Palin was POTUS she would be sending portable shelters to Japan even if it meant sending cruise ships off shore and putting them on board. She will immediately work with getting the countries to work together.

IN PERSON

Alaska can be a valuable resource for Japan, especially coal if needed. For all of the fishing fleets that have been destroyed Alaska can take up the slack.

The smartest thing to do is to do something and do it fast. Not doing basketball games or vacations.

The world will not forget Obama, I doubt even your grave in the future will be safe, they will have to have tanks, mines and lasers protecting it, you have royally pissed off the world.

Political potshots are to be expected with any visible political figure, but what I don’t get is the fanatical hatred that the Left and some on the Right have (or feign} for Palin.

Whenever the lies are debunked, they fall back on “she’s not ready to be president”, or she’s “unelectable”. When asked why, they have NO answer.

I happen to think Palin is a born leader, but even if she wasn’t, I’d vote for her just because she drives liberals the most crazy.

I like and respect Palin, but I am also often critical of her. As a blunt fact of political life, Palin's negatives are dangerously high, she has made serious mistakes, and she has positioned herself more as a cultural and political icon than as a serious Presidential candidate.

When Palin and her advocates complain of her being treated unfairly, she sounds unready for the routine brickbats of a Presidential campaign. She should adopt instead Reagan's approach of consistent, good-spirited advocacy for conservative issues and ideas. And get those negatives down.

- 9.5% real cut in spending over the previous governor
- 85% spending cut on the governor’s operating cost

I know her poll negative are high, but that should not stop one from supporting her simply because others don’t. She would make a GREAT executive, if her 2.5 year as AK governor can give you a clue. Its simply amazing what she did up there in Alaska. The amount of surplus thats coming into Alaska right now allow the government to self fund themselves on the interest they get from the savings alone in a few years time. Theres no need to tax anyone, simply fund government and infrastructure project on the interest income

Not only is she qualified, she is all of the following.

1) She is the most qualified of all the potential candidates.

2) Her experience and track record show her to be past-expert in precisely the specific areas where this nation needs to focus our attention and efforts to pull our economy, and the rest of the world clinging desperately to our fiancial coattails, out of our current disasterous tailspin.

3) Of all the possible 2012 Presidential candidates, she alone has shown the decisive ability to isolate the problem like a heat-seeking missile, and effect the solution in previously unheard-of record-time.

Look at the improbable litany of amazing things she accomplished as governor in this article. It's actually the tip of a vast iceberg of all she did. Nonetheless, add to that list "running for VP" and "having a baby." Then, consider that she did all of this in half a term as governor ~ only to then fell on her political sword for the good of her State, and her constituents ~ placing both ahead of her own personal considerations.

Then consider that, despite all these superhuman accomplishments, and what should be the resultant approbado, we who revere her for what she has done are ridiculed as nincompoops who have drunk "The Koolaid." Every rump-sucking imbecile who ever tore her down over unattributed accusations and venal innuendos should hang their rancid heads in abject shame for being a despicable false witness, and the very worst kind of human degenerate. The kind who would take a modern-day saint, and libel her in public.

Thay have no shame. They are not worth the spit I fling in their metaphorical direction. Screw 'em where they breathe. We'll win without them, and then we'll bury their pathetic memory in the dung-heap of their own excreta. They will fade like small pox and polio as we embrace the bright future we have earned by supporting our last, best chance at stemming the craven tide which they contribute to with their fear and ignorance and hatred.

The force of nature, the tsunami we call "Sarah Barracuda."

What a steaming vat of puke you spew. She has endured their, and your, "brickbats," and she yet laughs at you as she collects six-figures a pop to fill auditoriums with throngs of those who "get it."

Crawl back up that dark, smelly hole. We'll consider the source.

Not to pick on you, but your post deserves a response:

“As a blunt fact of political life, Palin’s negatives are dangerously high.” As in polls, or actual negatives?

“She has made serious mistakes,” - Such as?

“She has positioned herself more as a cultural and political icon than as a serious Presidential candidate” - unlike Obama? She certainly hasn’t resorted to styrofoam columns.

“When Palin and her advocates complain of her being treated unfairly, she sounds unready for the routine brickbats of a Presidential campaign.” You think she’s been treated fairly? Or you just don’t like that she responds to lies about her and her family? She’s been put through more than any political figure I can think of.

I am curious to see the answers to these questions.

After Kerry went down the Left and their MSM was livid with him that he did not answer back to the Swifties soon enough.

In politics if you don't get on top of things they will stick.

Don't forget, she also helped spearhead the Tea Party Miracle of 11/2/10. For instance, nobody would have even heard about my wonderful new Gov Nikki Haley if not for her.
If she had stayed on in Alaska the Tea Party gains would not have been so historic.
Her going national was the smartest political move this century.
Reagan also had high negatives and the consensus was he was unelectable—BEFORE he decided to run—THEN he exposed the polls as the result of mendacious Leftist propaganda and GOP dupes believing and echoing them.
Like Reagan, once SP gets out there full tilt with her solid conservative values...again like Reagan.

When Palin and her advocates complain of her being treated unfairly, she sounds unready for the routine brickbats of a Presidential campaign counterattack in response to venomous, absolutely counterfactual charges, gullible people are taken in by the fatuous claims of wire service journalism. She should adopt instead Reagan's approach of consistent, good-spirited advocacy for conservative issues and ideas. And get those negatives down.
In reality not even Reagan was attacked at the levels Palin has been subject to. Reagan was a handsome man, and was attacked for that. Palin is a beautiful woman; she's attacked even more viciously for that. That is what all the attention to her teenaged girls is all about. And her baby, who so many think should have been rubbed out.
I would be a lot more concerned about Palin's negatives if I thought the general election would be about the Republican candidate in 2012. It won't. It will be about $5 gasoline, stagflation, and what used to be American prestige, and the perilous results of the dissipation thereof. While the incumbent worried about who would win a college basketball competition.
Governor Palin was the only one who didn't head for the tall grass when Obama won the '08 election, and she's the one present or former governor who I trust implicitly to be willing and able to take the fight to a president whom wire service journalism treats as above criticism.

Alaska’s robust finances are due to an increase in the price of oil and an increase in the state’s take based on legislation pressed for by Palin. These are unique circumstances that will not carry over as a remedy to the vastly larger federal financial problems.

Gonna be a lot of little pin-heads exploding on that glorious day.
