Politicians and pundits are again debating the wisdom and necessity of American taxpayer support for public radio and television. Both Juan Williams's firing and alleged comments by National Public Radio's executive Ron Schiller have raised real questions about political bias.
It seems that the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has a similar problem. Someone at its Frontline website has been substituting fake biographies of conservatives written by an organization called Right Web for legitimate institutional biographies. Right Web is a project of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), a think tank whose scholars' positions range from left wing to Marxist. When challenged about inaccuracies on the dossiers he compiles of “right wing militarists,” the editor of Right Web e-mailed that even when no evidence supports his allegations, corrections of his slanders would require proving his allegations wrong, an impossible standard that is also embraced by conspiracy theorists like the LaRouchies, 9/11 revisionists, and Birthers. Right Web is also among the worst Google manipulators in the political realm.
It is Right Web's right to publish such nonsense, and some naive or unprofessional journalists may accept it at face value. But congressmen might want to ask PBS's Frontline about the editorial decision to substitute these fake, conspiracy-riddled biographies for the real thing: for example, here (see the links under almost every name) and here (see the link on Jeffrey Goldberg).
It is hard to believe that editors at Frontline would let this silliness slip by unintentionally. Does PBS have ethical guidelines? Why were they not applied? Why were they waived? Certainly, editors test links when they commission stories. That they do not appear to understand their actions to be politicized and unethical is troubling. That they have turned PBS into a tool for policy advocacy and dirty tricks is unfortunate. If that's what Frontline wants to do, so be it. But they should not do it with taxpayer money.
If the "birthers" are nuts -- as Establishment pooh-bahs like George Will profess to believe -- how come the so-called "certificate of live birth" released online by the Obama team in 2008 doesn't list the name of the Honolulu hospital at which the future president is said to have been born. (My birth certificate lists the hospital. Doesn't yours? Have you ever seen a birth certificate that doesn't include the hospital's name?) And when lawyers in Kenya trying to track down anyone who might have a claim on the estate of Barack Obama Sr. contacted Obama's mother for the usual birth-certificate information about her son, how come she couldn't provide it? (By the way, Cashill pulls this troubling, but little-noticed incident, right out of Dreams. Also interesting -- or is "explosive" the better word.)
The links in the article go to nothing remotely like a biography let alone the ones indicated. Very strange.
Followers of the various Leftist cults believe with all of their insincere hearts and godless souls that the fundamental tenets of their beliefs are true. They live in a fantasy world of self defined “truths”. Therefore, anything written or presented by fellow cultists must, by its very essence, be true. Their entire universe would collapse without this fundamental mental framework.
Of course, they are all a bunch of nutcases, but it sometimes helps to peer into their warped sense of reality as a means of understanding their actions. Actual facts are not allowed to play on this fantasy game board.
Why is it that those who do not believe in God are still looking for a higher force that will bring justice to the world?
Because they believe that they are that force. They are quite adept at acting like God.
Because they believe that they are that force. They are quite adept at acting like God.
And therein lies the problem with a large number of liberals -- they want to be in power, as you state.
But there seems to be a growing number of liberals who do not believe in God, who want to believe in a government that will "make things right." I find it ironic that these people do not want to believe in a higher power, yet are willing to give their God Given power to others to that that "higher power."
It’s because of who or what PBS is. Just like NPR they’re a bunch of Liberal liars.
Awfully close to the Dan Rather defense: "Fake, but accurate!"

They don’t just lie. They instill socialism in kids minds.
The BC is one of many mysteries..
If just a HINT of ANY of these things had surrounded another prez, all hell would break loose.
Amazing!
There has to be a lot of conspirators in this to get all the crap done that has been done.
My long form lists the hospital and, presumably, so would Obamas.
The "birther" obsession plays into his hands as a means of undermining his opposition, painting his critics as lunatics. It's his spin on Hillary's Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy. Talking about Obama and Kenya accomplishes NOTHING.
Instead do something useful. There are 13 states attempting to pass requirements for documentation for presidential candidates but they die in committee for lack of support:
HI - HB1116 Rida Cabanilla (D!) intro'd bill 1/11 to supply BC for "persons of civic prominence" upon request and $100 fee. OK - Failed in '08. Trying again as of 2/11. MO - Failed in '09. Trying again, HB 283 hearing held as of 3/1/11. TX - HB 295 intro'd 11/10, in committee as of 2/15 TN - SB 1043 intro'd 1/11, in committee as of 2/23. NE - LB 654(PDF doc), intro'd 1/11. Dying in committee? CT - SB 391 intro'd 1/11. In committee. IA - SF 369, intro'd 3/11. In committee. GA - Failed in '10. (HB 1516). Supposedly trying again in '11. Found no details. MT - HB 205 intro'd 1/11. "Missed Deadline for General Bill Transmittal" AZ - Failed in '10 - passed house, senate refused to vote. Tried in 2/11, died in senate committee. IN - Intro'd 1/11. Died in committee. NH - Intro'd 3/11. Died in committee.
They are leftists and they are liars.
Yet another reason to defund PBS by Congress.
JoMa
You’re being redundant
What mistake did I make? I just made a link with a story in it about his mother and her lack of a birth certificate for Obama.
That too ....
