(Reuters) - The United States should "put the brakes on" new nuclear power plants until fully understanding what happened to the earthquake-crippled nuclear reactors in Japan, the chairman of the U.S. Senate's homeland security panel said on Sunday.

WRONG ANSWER! It should be: wow, the nuclear power plant survived not ONLY a 9.2 earthquake but a huge tsunami on top - we should be able to replicate their designs and place nuclear plants where natural disasters are minimal (here in AZ we HAVE one of the best in the country - there is alot of land out in AZ/NV that could be ideal for more power plants if the enviros got muzzled)

Better yet, stop forcing the continued use of 40 and 50 year old technology and build new state of the art nuclear plants.

From what I’ve heard on the nuke plant troubles, it was not the quake which did them in, but the sea water. Moral is: place them at higher elevations. IMHO.
