Listeners in the nation’s capital might be hearing again from Fred Grandy, the former “Love Boat” star and ex-congressman who left his radio show last week after a fallout with management allegedly over some on-air Islam remarks.

But it might take awhile.

Three cheers for the Gopher. Considering the recent history of those who attack radical Islam, particularly in Holland, this guy has grit, as Mattie Ross said. Go get'em Gopher, I'll happily enlist in your security detail.

It’s interesting that Grandy, a former democRAT congresscritter is on board with this.

Grandy was always a Republican. He was a roommate and best man for David Eisenhower, speechwriter for a Republican Congressman, and Grandy won ‘Treasury Watchdog’ awards as a Congressman himself.

Maybe he’s a social liberal, but there’s no doubt about his credentials as a Republican.

WRONG. He was elected as a Republican.

Since WMAL is making life difficult for Fred Grandy and not allowing him to seek another broadcasting job, maybe we need a “Free Fred Grandy” campaign against WMAL.

Quick online research confirms my thought that he was always a GOP’er, having served four terms as a Republican Congressman and being defeated in a ‘goobernatorial” bid in IA. It appears to me that his biggest sin was being described as a “moderate”; but, he’s on the right side of this issue if he persists.

His voting record in congress was more socially conservative that he’s given credit for.

What none of this bothers to report is that Grandy is really, really funny and witty on the radio. His show was not only informative, but wildly, laugh-out-loud, drive-your-car-into-the-ditch-laughing hilarious. It makes it sound like he just went on and on about Izlam all the time, and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Truth be told, Mrs. Fred is who the station was aimed at, not him. He was making them a boatload of money. What a loss.

I stand corrected. Assumed that Grandy as a former Hollywood actor would be a democRAT. Didn’t check his online history.

Very interesting story. Good to know he probably is a conservative, which I would have never guessed just knowing him as an actor from The Love Boat. Would be great for him to get a show on FOX tv which may bypass his no compete contract that I’m guessing only pertains to radio shows. He might also consider the satellite radio which again may be a loop hole so he can still maintain an audience and get his message out.

The article did include a photo of Mrs. Fred and not Mr. Fred, so I think you are correct. I hope both continue to speak out on this issue, and others, as long as they agree with me:)

“...get a show on FOX tv...”

Excellent idea, then Ailes could dump Geraldo and put Mr. and Mrs. Fred in Geraldo’s slot-potentially, a bigtime winner.

Fred Grandy was raised wealthy and Republican, and met David Eisenhower while attending Philips Exeter Academy. When Eisenhower married Julie Nixon, Grandy served as best man.
