Bill Clinton: Drilling delays 'ridiculous' By: Darren Goode March 11, 2011 04:55 PM EST
Former President Bill Clinton said Friday that delays in offshore oil and gas drilling permits are ridiculous at a time when the economy is still rebuilding, according to attendees at the IHS CERAWeek conference.
Clinton spoke on a panel with former President George W. Bush that was closed to the media. Video of their moderated talk with IHS CERA Chairman Daniel Yergin was also prohibited.
But according to multiple people in the room, Clinton, surprisingly, agreed with Bush on many oil and gas issues, including criticism of delays in permitting offshore since last years Gulf of Mexico spill.
Bush said all the things youd expect him to say on oil and gas issues, said Jim Noe, senior vice president at Hercules Offshore and executive director of the pro-drilling Shallow Water Energy Security Coalition. But Clinton added, Youd be surprised to know that I agree with all that, according to Noe and others in the room.
Clinton said there are ridiculous delays in permitting when our economy doesnt need it, according to Noe and others.
That was the most surprising thing they said, Noe said.
The two former presidents both generally agreed on the need to get offshore drilling workers back on the job.

Only old liberal women would vote for her.
No.
There is absolutely nothing altruistic in The Bend One. He has no loyalty to this country. Never has. He sees something it for "The Clintons", that's all. Hillary's benefit most likely.
Chinese bag men from the Chicom military. 20 years worth of US missile technology in exchange for a few hundred grand.
The man is a traitor, should have been in leg irons for the last 15 years. Nothing he says now changes the fact that he is criminal scum.
Yep. Slick Willy at least had some pride in America. We have Obama running the show, and his bitter half, Moochele “for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country...” telling us what to eat, with Eric “my people” Holder making sure justice is served.
I’m trying to remember ever hearing him even mention off-shore drilling, but I’m coming up blank; however, it may be because I didn’t go out of my way to hear him ramble.
t Bill doesn’t actively hate the USA
*****
It was nice of bubba to give the Chinese our space technology (that they will also).
You got it. The dems themselves are gonna pull the plug on the Bork Obunga show after one season.
oops.sorry.
The Chinese will use the space tech to make their nukes more accurate.
The Clintons care only about power (their careers).
True. But I still don't think he did it because he hated the USA. He just liked being President better...
Bill O’Reilly? Is that you?
Maybe the same reason Jeb Bush was on the stage in FL with Obama the other day.
Yes, I am serious. I saw it on Bill O’Reilly. BOR was defending Jeb, of course. Laura Ingraham was ticked off about it because she thought it was BS since Obama has already kicked off his re-election campaign. There is video and pictures. They were really friendly. It was some sort of education forum. The backdrop for the stage said Winning The Future. There is a pick of Jeb with his arm around Barry. It really warmed my heart! (sarcasm) These pictures will be used in campaign advertisements in Florida.
Jimmy Carter would be a hair better than Obama and THAT’S not saying much.
As are all left side energy policies.
We have a drilling "delay" and have had drilling prohibited in areas known to have oil.
Coal has been put off-limits by you Billy, perfectly good but older coal plants are being shut down while new ones are being prevented.
Hydro power dams are actually being torn down "for the environment". We will not see many new large scale dam projects.
We see in Japan the seed for the new anti-nuclear plant movement and our new plants will inevitably never happen.
Electric cars are useless without electric power and what is the left's answer to that? Wind and solar power which will not be enough in terms of supply and reliability.
We have not built a single refinery since 1971. Of those 40 years, one fifth was his presidency --- was he for building refineries as well?
Something you’ll never hear Bush say about Obama. A shame too. Where does Bush’s line end between respect for the office and the destruction of America?
More likely found some hottie at Halliburton who is giving him the cold shoulder at the moment.

All she has to say in Iowa is “Drill Baby Drill” and Obama will be “Hasta la vista, baby” at the DNC convention in Charlotte.
