MADISON, Wis (Reuters) – Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker said on Friday he was canceling the layoff warning notices he sent late last week to public sector unions after lawmakers approved his proposal to restrict the collective bargaining rights of those unions.

Walker said the new powers for state and local government in the bill, which he is expected to sign into law as early as Friday, would save $30 million in the current budget year, which ends June 30. The measure also requires that public servants pay more of their health insurance and pension costs.

Wisconsin Republicans have SAVED 12,000+ mostly union jobs, and saved the taxpayers money doing so!!

I wonder if the MSMS will report that?

Unlike Obama, Gov. Walker actually saved jobs, as well as a great deal of taxpayers dollars.

The next time the budget rolls around there will probably be more cuts necessary to keep it balanced. Might not be able to avoid layoffs at the next rodeo showdown.

I now understand why the WI GOP waited to perform this maneuver of the special session vote. If they had done it earlier, then the action would have been seen as Union Busting. But by first sending layoff notices, then holding the vote, they could then define the move as saving jobs; all while the Democrats were hiding. Now the RATS come home defeated. Well played. I just hope the average Wisconsinite gets it.

Those with “seniority” don’t give a rip about “jobs” as long as their perks are sustained.
They’ll vote EVERY TIME to lose juniors’ jobs and keep their own level of compensation.

He’ll be in a good position for 2016 if we end up with another sacrificial RINO in 2012.

RE :"He’ll be in a good position for 2016 if we end up with another sacrificial RINO in 2012."

How about an ex-governor that quit in the middle of her term? I dont have anyone specific in mind but that would give the Obama campaign plenty to work with.

If obama wins in 2012, we won’t have to worry about 2016.

Let’s face it. THe whole point of this Dem charade was to MAKE Walker layoff workers...thus affecting services...and being blamed for it despite the fact that he inherited a giant deficit. THe Union could pretend to care about their brethen who lost jobs while blaming Walker. It would have been a win-win for them...no fiscal restraint, intact collective bargaining...a talking point to slam Walker with.

By taking this bold step, Walker has saved union jobs, saved tax-payer money and acheived some fiscal solvency, and forced the unions to collect their OWN dues.

It is a beautiful thing:)
