Gaddafi forces attack, no-fly zone on table

Libyan television showed two reporters meeting residents on Tuesday in what it said was "liberated Zawiyah". But a Ghanaian worker who fled the city said rebels still controlled the central square, urging residents to defend their positions.

A government spokesman said troops were mostly in control but there was still a small group of fighters. "Maybe 30-40 people, hiding in the streets and in the cemetery. They are desperate," he said in Tripoli.

Foreign reporters have been prevented from entering Zawiyah and other cities near the capital without an official escort.

In the east, much of which is under rebel control, warplanes bombed rebel positions around the oil port of Ras Lanuf where the front line is shifting with rebels in 4x4 trucks mounted with weapons engaging the army in strike and counter-strike.

Revolutionary euphoria seemed to have dimmed. "People are dying out there. Gaddafi's forces have rockets and tanks," Abdel Salem Mohamed, 21, told Reuters near Ras Lanuf. "You see this? This is no good," he said of his light machinegun.

Air strikes hit rebels behind the stretch of no man's land desert between Ras Lanuf and Bin Jawad, 550 km (340 miles) east of Tripoli. The towns are about 60 km (40 miles) apart on the strategic coast road along the Mediterranean Sea.

Pro-Gaddafi troops who had besieged the rebel-held city of Misrata left on Tuesday, driving east towards Sirte with other forces coming from Tripoli, a resident said. There had already been reports Sirte had been reinforced from the south.

If the world wants a no-fly zone, contact Europe and have them set one up!

America needs to leave this to Europe and the wonderful muslim contries of the region.

We need to get busy drilling around our country and hemishpere!

What are we to do if the Arab world decides to have a no-fly zone over our next scene of unrest? Very disturbing. Gaddafi is doing nothing that Abe Lincoln didn’t do.

Obamah's head must be spinning. He literally hates America's intervention in the world's affairs.

But now as the world's major Superpower, he must act or be seem as weak & disconnected.

Why did it take two weeks before we got even a statement from the White House? Because we have a President that despises America's greatness & power and it goes against everything in him to exert America's power & influence.

The priority for the Obama Administration isn’t a “No Fly Zone” for Libya, it’s a “No Fry Zone” for the United States.

The fatty food and obesity crisis is priority number one.....LOL

JUST IN...

“High-ranking member of Libyan government arrives in Cairo aboard private jet and says he has message from Gadhafi, official tells AP.”

This can’t be good!

our great world leader, nobama, quoted earlier today: “Just what time is my tee time?” ...and a short time later: “What’s for lunch?”

All this talk about Libya...Look, obama’s calling the shots here. We’ll be lucky if obama doesn’t set up a “no fly” zone around Miami before he sets up one around Libya. Heck, I’d almost expect to see him offer the kook in Libya sanctuary and set him up with a condo in Palm Beach somewhere. So long as he hands the reigns over to the muzzie bruddahood before he leaves.

From the Jerusalem Post:

Report: Libyan jet passes Greece en route to Egypt By REUTERS 03/09/2011 13:16

ATHENS - A Libyan jet flew through Greek controlled air space briefly on Wednesday and headed to Egypt but there was no information on whether it belonged to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, a Greek foreign ministry official said.

"A Libyan Falcon jet reported to Athens FIR (Flight Information Region) that it was passing through and heading to Egypt. It was in Greek FIR for about 15 minutes. We do not know who was on the plane or who it belongs to," the official, who requested anonymity, told Reuters.

Reuters reporting three plumes of black smoke are rising from the As Sider oil terminal.

Oil’s down on the rumor/possibility that Gaddafi might be on a plane to Egypt. That’ll change quickly on this news.

As crazy as that sounds, I never expected him to set up a “no drill zone” and then to defy court orders. A no fly zone in some part or all of our country isn’t beyond his attempt.

Qadaffi is bad news without question.

But why do we feel like we have to get involved in something like this...

Nutty as hell but he fights back...didn’t pack his cash and run to Geneva or Riyadh or Cyprus etc

and he might just win his little counter insurgency...

guess he’s not Colonel for nothing

the laughter you hear in the world is the world laughing AT Obama’s vision of America.

We need a post Obama Presidency in this world.

We need morning in America and there is NOBODY on the current candidate list that brings that.

It is all go BACK, not go Forward..... (over the husk of leftist philosophy)

Obama’s main concern today was about schoolyard bullies.

Bullies with an air force? Too scared to mention them.
