If the 14 Senators refuse to legislate, the other Senators should refuse to have a quorum.
How close to “anarchy” are we in Madison Wisconsin?
Secondly, they are over-compensated in comparison to the private sector, which is why they are being targeted with cuts. Also, there is no reason their jobs cannot be PRIVATIZED!
I draw that line because politicians sending unlimited tax revenue to their cronies always leads to back room deals and corruption. Give a politician access to our tax dollars with the opportunity to selectively hand it to a beholden business man and you have guaranteed corruption that carries through the process with revolving door bureaucrats looking for a deal as well as political hacks.
Here in PA we had judges on the take from private prisons and being paid to send young kids to prison for minor violations. Privatization is fine as long as politicians aren’t using tax money because then it becomes graft at our expense.
I agree we need to see cuts and making public job benefits and pay commensurate with private jobs. But will the state legislators go along with that? In PA Gov. Ridge increased their pensions by 50% at the peak of the bubble ten years ago. Both Parties have their corruption.
I REALLY want to see these Wall St oligarchs paying their due too. If it wasn’t for taxpayers they’d have nothing. Instead they get billions more in bonuses for producing nothing, only because they have membership in a special club. The bankers making their billions need taxed at Eisenhower rates so they don’t have so much extra money around with which to buy off Congress and Obama.
Yep. They have played that for all it is worth.
Time to teach the taxpayer who’s boss!
You’re probably right. This thing has dragged on way too long. Only seems to be growing.
High noon is almost here however. Time for massive layoff of every public servant with a high absentee level.
Here in NJ many paid departments are facing cuts; it is their own fault because the unions resisted mergers. There is just no justification for so many firefighters sleeping in firehouses so close together though in different towns.
I don’t think teachers in NJ get much sympathy from the police & fire, because they’ve already seen many laid off while the teachers’ unions’ continue to get salary increases (while refusing concessions even to save less senior teachers’ jobs).
I know a few!!!!
“Why cut firefighters and cops and not cut welfare, foodstamps, housing, cars (including gas cards, AAA and insurance) and cell phones for the parasites?”
We need to reduce both. We cannot afford the incredible pensions for law enforcement. My small city has no defined benefit pensions for any public employee. Give them all 401Ks just like the private sector.
This needs to be front centerpage. I am sick and tired of them taking pictures of T party people with guns at rallies while we all know it is the gov and the cops who are the real threat.
Shades of cops rioting and looting after Katrina and then having the guts to disarm the citizenry there who protected their homes.
Homeschool educators are proof of this. It does not take a degree, it does not take a state, it does not take a government entity to educate a child. It takes only knowledgable, caring adults.
Only the best public educators are worth keeping; the ones that teach reading, writing, arithmetic, respect, and patriotism.
Incompetent, Brain-washing, Obama-idolizing, Mother-Earth worshipping, Union-enabling, Humanist teachers should be working 12 months a year elsewhere or standing in the unemployment lines.
Why would we ever need a militia?
Will we have a shoot-out with the cops to enforce the law and protect our incomes from these leeches?
So armed cops are joining thuggish communists.
Isn’t that special!
The stupid flatfoots and the firefighters are unwittingly drawing a target on their own backs.
If they’re going to stand with thugs they need to be next. Don’t any of them have parents and family members being bled dry to pay the freight for their fat paychecks and benefits?
Their department chiefs better be telling them to attend the protests unarmed. If they’re not, they’re taking on a huge liability.
I agree. Good idea.
I never had the warm and fuzzy feeling for the cops after 911. I did for the firefighters. Cops are useless in many circumstances. Firefighters are a different story. I still support them, but I’m sad to see them lowering themselves to the level of these thugs. If the Teamsters, SEIU and other thug unions weren’t involved, it wouldn’t bother me so much. It bothers me to see teachers and firefighters consorting with thugs.
I honestly don’t think a lot of people understand how economics work or what a budget is.
When your paycheck is guaranteed to be there every week, why do you need to understand economics or budget, or save for a rainy day.
Public sector unions are about to get an education in economics, budgets and the value of saving for tough times.
You’re absolutely right. The typical public union worker’s thoughts are, “I want more.” They are indoctrinated by the union masters to think, “I have the right to get more.” They know nothing of economics, business, the impact of taxation on private sector labor, none of that. They just want and think they should have more. The unions are kind of like Al Queda recruiters. They indoctrinate hatred in their membership. It never enters their thick, dense, greedy minds that THERE ISN’T ANYMORE!!
