I don't know. Like the WH, DOS, and the rest of those involved it appears they get their news from media reporters on the ground.
I'm not privy to any more then what we read and hear. But if it helps a bit.
Retaking lost ground can revert to in a few hours losing the gains. One of the close by cities to Tripoli, forget it's name, as of today apparently is experiencing on and off ambushes by the madman's forces. So one might read that the city is holding it's own, then tomorrow you may read about it having fallen to the government forces. Things are to fluid to keep accurate track of what is happening. Especially in the western part of the country. Where you have basically the Qaddafy tribe butting heads with neighboring tribes.
Think of this whole deal as being a consolidation of a number of tribes in Libya that finally got some loose traction to appose the regime. The downfall in Tunisia and Egypt basically set them off. So it is a crap shoot for all intensive purposes.

I just finished watching Gates and Mullins at the Pentagon via. CSPAN. Basically what we have read on so many postings. No revelations other then the fact Mullins had spent the past seven days touring Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. I was not aware he was on that tour. The DoD and Pentagon have been hanging below the radar for the past few weeks. Both Gates and Mullins did confirm questions regarding a no fly zone as probably improbable for the time being. They stressed of course the need for proper UN Approval. And the Russkie and Chinks would not go along with that deal most likely. They of course did not want to give a heads up on just where the Enterprise is at.
Back to CSPAN to view some other stuff.

LOL at ... If your going to do some reading you might as just stay here and read your brains out....heheh. and I agree. To read, thoroughly, and find some different windows would be a break, I think. Plus refraining from making posts, would be a break. New windows of information might give more insight to my delusional manner of thinking. Maybe, a break from my delusional thinking would actually be a break, for others. Trying to help, all I can ... LOL

So true. Just as our ancestors, except for all the modern conveniences. My parents lived during and through WWII. Constantly remember what they (parents) had to have been thinking. God and America go hand in hand, again, into history, which gives me hope through faith.
