I’m not arguing otherwise, just that even for those with advanced degrees, this economy is difficult.

Her degree is same as mine, a BA.

"He wasn't an entrepreneur, but an academic"

You do understand that he owned a plantation, right?

To the degree that he was an academic, almost all of his endeavors in that area came after the conclusion of his political career - and naturally after the founding of the country. He was, before the revolution, a working attorney and a farmer, and to some degree a political activist, penning several well-received treatises on contemporary public policy.

Oh yeah, It did wonders for Tom Delay.

Too bad, Rosie O-Donnell couldn’t partner with Maxim.
one lift and he’s retired for good.. the audience would have to wear biohazard suits and masks in case he dropped her.

Interesting that the linked article is nothing but an excuse to slam her.

The reader can find an SNL parody and sound bites that they fervently believe destroy the remnants of her credibility.

Pass.

A B.A. is a degree.

It is not an “advanced degree”.

C.O.D. (cash on delivery) should get a real job and stop being a publicity ‘hound’.

I thought it was the league that featured the red, white and blue basketball.

It isn't even a B.S. degree - you know - one with actual academic rigor in a difficult subject.

A B.A. degree, in most examples I have seen, means you can acceptably regurgitate the professor's academic sounding jargon.

But the losing Senate candidate from Delaware isn't sure she should accept, saying she has two left feet.

I don't think Christine should do it either, especially if she really has two left feet. Kate Gosselin had two left feet, and she was widely mocked.

Bristol didn’t and she was widely mocked. They’re just hoping for another Palin-esque ratings boost. Hoping the Tea Party will call in to vote for Christine. I hope she doesn’t let herself get used that way.

The most unfair thing of all was Bristol having to go up against Jennifer Grey from ‘Dirty Dancing.’

I have fond memories of voting for Bristol the way an Acorn member would...:)

Me too! Voting like ACORN was a hoot. And the thread was fun here at FR too. :)

Bristol conducted herself well on DWTS, worked hard, danced well, and earned a LOT of money. She has natural ability and progressed each week, in spite of having to go up against Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing. Good for Bristol!

DWTS is a tough show, and O'Donnell should beware since she says she has 2 left feet.

She didn’t apply to Dancing with the stars. They came to her.

If opportunity knocks, do you slam the door?

So bigotry towards degrees you don’t possess is acceptable?

There are many academically rigourous disciplines that a BA covers.

Tell you what, since folks with BAs are stupid, I’ll throw down the gauntlet.

What’s your discipline?

We’ll get another FReeper in the same discipline to make up a test and see who does better.

Calling a Bachelors degree an “advanced degree” is unacceptable.

Maybe if your education was more rigorous you would be aware that a Bachelors is not an “advanced degree”.

Many academically rigorous disciplines offer a B.A. degree, but they also usually offer a more academically difficult B.S. degree in that discipline.

I have a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology. The M.S. would be my “advanced degree”, the B.S. was my “degree”.

History.

There are academically rigorous disciplines that exist that do not have BS equivalents, and I believe mine is one of them.

I agree with your assessment that many are as you state, but not all.

You are correct, History is not (AFAIK) a subject that offers a more rigorous B.S. degree - and it is a subject that takes more than regurgitating the professor's academic sounding jargon - and it is a subject of a great deal of use in being a well educated person.

I don't see how anyone can claim to really understand what is happening today without knowing what went on beforehand.

I am currently reading “Up from Slavery” by Booker T. Washington. History is one of my absolute favorite subjects!

Truth is stranger than fiction - and reading history proves it!

Being a scientist though I think the proper ‘experiment’ would be between two groups, one with a B.S. degree and the other with a B.A. degree in the same subject - and a test upon that subject.

And with a sample size of n=1 for each group I would be leery of accepting such a test as anything more than anecdotal evidence.

;)
