No political actor nor potential candidate wants to give the media the rope by which to hang them. When half of the country believes that this guy is their saviour and another 25 per cent think it inconcievable that Obama could be anything but a citizen and a christian, why expose yourself unnecessarily to ridicule and defamation?

I wish Republicans, or at least Conservatives, would simply say:

“Mr. President put this issue to bed. For the good of the Republic, quit spending millions trying to hide from your past and release all relevant documents. The longer the issue hangs out there, the less credibility you or the country has.”

“I see no good hiding all your personal history from the public. This is not the Soviet Union. Americans deserve to know the WHOLE truth about its leaders. Here is a copy of my birth certificate and my medical records and university records are available at any time for media review. Mr. President its way past time for you to do the same. No more lies. No more forgeries. No more double talk. Release ALL documents today!”

I like Bachmann. However, it is more than naive to take Obama's word for anything. He has a long history of telling lies. The birth certificate issue shows he is hiding something. Try applying for the FBI and tell them to take your word for your citizenship, education, etc. Being the president is a far more important job. It is stupid to just take anybody's word for the required qualification.

If Obama has nothing to hide, why not show the bc?

Every Republican who goes before a camera should go carrying a scroll in their pocket: a list of 0bama documents that are hidden from public view and examination.

Dead on here. Turn this silly gotcha question around on Snuffleupagus. Make this not about the Birther issue, but the larger issue of hiding his past. After doing this for a while, the press will be forced to put up or shut up.

By the way, this ABC Clintoon lackey is a real POS.

Sorry, but the correct answer to that baited question is always, (shrug) “I guess we have to take the president at his word for that, since that’s all we have to go on and the Democrat-controlled ‘mainstream’ newsrooms have no interest in investigating.” (shrug)

This whole thing by the democrats appears to be politically motivated , but maybe we will get lucky and it will flip on them. labeling anyone that is willing to ask a honest question and expect a honest answer as a nutcase is wrong.

The MSM obviously has decided to continue to press the outing of Birther politicians since the strategy began last summer running up to the Nov. elections.

They can either dodge (slyly) or go on a in-your-face rebuttal by challenging the MSM ("to put up or shut up!!).

Yes, that indeed would have been a good reply.

Our side really need to be prepared to answer these "birther" questions. They are becoming more common.

Stephanopoulus gets his marching orders from the White House. He’s doing the Administration’s work here.

The Democratic segment of the “news media” is trying to shape public opinion against the Republicans.

Oh, I know that's what you meant. My point is that people being interviewed in the media -- whatever their position (or lack of interest) involving BO's qualifications -- need to point out this critical distinction.
Regards.

The debate rages on.
Meanwhile...

AP devotes 11 reporters to "fact check" Palin book

Reviewing books and holding public figures accountable is at the core of good journalism, but the treatment Palin's book received appears to be something new for the AP. The organization did not review for accuracy recent books by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, then-Sen. Joe Biden, either book by Barack Obama released before he was president or autobiographies by Bill or Hillary Clinton. The AP did more traditional news stories on those books.

[Expect this to be the issue that the MSM asks all through this election cycle first and foremost...]

EXACTLY...this whole birth certificate issue is nothing more than a ‘tar baby’ planted by the regime (no pun intended) for use in 2012.

EVERYONE on our side should respond to it in the same manner as Michelle Bachmann did.

Don’t touch the planted ‘tar baby’.

Well I’m not going to jump all over Michelle Bachmann. At least they couldn’t bludgeon her into saying she thinks Barry was born here. I think that the level of vitriol, derision, and humiliation that gets heaped on every public figure for questioning BHO’s eligibility is just so intense its really hard to stand up to. I have no other explanation for why multiple congress critters and senators did not stand up and question Barry in 2008.

Bachmann: Well that isn't for me to state, that is for the president to state.

I like Bachman, but if she won't stand up to 0bama, then who will she stand up to? If she won't stand up for the "natural born" part of The Constitution, then can I count on her to stand up for ANY part of The Constitution?

I like her too but her answers here were not good even if her intention was to be avasive.

It is NOT for the president to state. It does not matter what one BELIEVES. It is for the people to KNOW.

I’ll give her credit for this. She said several times that it’s up to Barry to say whether he’s a citizen. Then finally, she says that she takes him at his word.

I don’t think she had any other choice. She is already being portrayed by all of the media as an extremist, and this would finish the job if she can be labeled a Birther.

Maybe if a number of Republicans got together, they could say, “We think that the President should lay all these persistent, widespread rumors to rest by producing incontrovertible proof that he is qualified to be POTUS.”

Meantime, at least the way she handled it would make most viewers think that maybe there is a problem, while not permitting the interviewer to trap her.

Orchestrated tactic by Obama MSM in response to high polling numbers of people who conclude Obama is lying about eligibility. Was also used on Sunday Talk show.

The View covered in the same way.
