ICE agent killed another wounded

MEXICO CITY — Two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were shot Tuesday afternoon, one fatally, in an apparent assault on a highway near the northern Mexican city of San Luis Potosi as they drove a sport utility vehicle with diplomatic license plates.

The slain agent was Brownsville native Jaime Zapata, who was on assignment from the office in Laredo, where he served on the Human Smuggling and Trafficking Unit as well as the Border Enforcement Security Task Force.

The wounded ICE agent was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, in Houston, said U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee and chairman of the panel on investigations. McCaul is a former federal prosecutor in Texas and former deputy attorney general of Texas.

Zapata graduated from the University of Texas at Brownsville and began his federal law enforcement career with the U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma, Arizona.

The agents were traveling when forced to a stop by suspected gangsters in other vehicles. The agents apparently were identifying themselves through a window when the assailants opened fire with assault weapons.

"They were moving when they were cut off," said Alonso Pena, the recently retired deputy chief of the immigration agency, who was informed of the details of the attack. "I think we will see an unprecedented response by the United States if it turns out to be a cold blooded murder of a U.S. federal agent."

I may have missed it, but did they have such a strong reaction to the Border Patrol agents murder?

Maybe the TX RINOs like PErry, Kay Bailey and Cornyn might start to get serious like some of the policticians in AZ. Slime McCain is not one of them.

I seriously doubt the “unprecedented” response will be anything more than a weasel-worded letter.

What it needs to be? A Gaza-style wall, with the fringe of no-mans land just INSIDE the Mexican border. That’s for starters. Follow it up with crackdowns on illegal immigrants, deportations, and the stationing of our military on our border, facing outward. Don’t use them for internal purposes and don’t station the National Guard ten miles behind the border as some sort of backstop for the Border Patrol. Put our soldiers ON that wall, ready to repulse armed incursions from Mexico.

Now Megyn is opining that maybe the Druggies were just after the SUV. Yeah all carjackers shoot up the targeted vehicle. Good Grief.

Is Obama going go to Mexico for another death rally and chastise them the same way that Mexican Calderon slammed us?

He needs to meet with the President of Mexico and give him three options:
1) Have him use his military to clean up the border problems, immediately.

2) Have our military hook up with Mexico’s and clean out the border problems, immediatel.

3) Have our military cross the border and handle the problem ourselves, immediately.

Tell him to pick an option and these will be the only options.

Unprecedented indeed. I would hate to be a licensed firearms dealer or lawful gun owner in a border state.

Last month: Today I say to the cartels: Don’t even think about bringing your violence and tactics across this border,” Napolitano warned last month during a speech in El Paso, Texas. “You will be met by an overwhelming response. And we’re going to continue to work with our partners in Mexico to dismantle and defeat you.”
If they capture them in Mexico.Mexico will not allow them to be sent back here unless they are assured there will be no death penalty for their citizens.

Big Sis has been busy lately telling city services to sand and salt their roads when it's cold.

Apparently, that's a homeland security concern -- another way to "connect" with the public.
