She's right about Romney, though. He's seen as pro-business and - remarkably - they look at his governorship of Massachusetts as a positive rather than a negative, the way most conservatives do. In a way, the biggest threat to Romney is Donald Trump, although a closer look at Trump's business success shows a lot of debt and leverage.
For the conservative ideologue, the market belongs to Sarah Palin just as soon as she can figure out how to knock Huckabee off the ballot. Until then, they're going to split the vote and leave the door open for Romney to win a plurality for early primary momentum.
But, sorry Ann, Christie doesn't want to run for president and he really shouldn't unless he really wanted the job and I don't think he really wants the job. Anyone with more intelligence than ego doesn't want the job.
OK, I see your point, but the way for us to avoid the MSM picking our candidate is for us to pick our own candidate and then flood the streets and the media with the message, just like we did with the general Tea Party message.
I just personally don't think that the MSM is going to be able to pull that trick again with the Tea Party movement as energized as it is. We have a tremendous voice now and our candidate will not be ignored.
Of course this means that WE need to be very thorough in vetting our candidate in the PRIMARY process (that's why I keep highlighting that word) because the PRIMARY process has started already.
Ann has her opinion. I, for one, disagree with her. We need a very vigorous debate right NOW for our vetting to be effective IMO.
“if those beliefs include grabbing guns”
Ann owns a 12 gauge side-by-side shotgun. She does her business in one barrel and bathes in the other.
ROFL!
Scott Walker (Republican Gov of WI), for President. But then the unions will probably be his undoing.
Christie supports Jihad judges & amnesty. No thanks...try again Ann.
So you are a Mitt Romney backer? Is that what you're saying?
Something must be wrong with me, too, because I think pissant is right on this one. Ann needs to get off the Christie hobby horse. He needs to stay in NJ for now. And frankly, he’s WAY too quiet on illegal immigration, cap & tax, global warming and a host of other issues — and what he has said makes him sound an awful lot more like Ted Kennedy than Ronald Reagan. Uh — NO SALE.
You’re a one issue voter eh?
GIVE UP YOUR BC OR GIVE ME DEATH!!!
I really don’t care for attacks on conservatives who want only a few answers. If MCCain could be forced to cough up his Canal Zone cert., why not Obumba’s Hawaii cert.? Ann wasted her ammo attacking FRiends. Disappointing!

I hate to say this but the fat man won’t get elected if standing next to the skinny man Obama. Forget the issues, forget the record of accomplishment, forget anything substantive — Obama will beat him in a heartbeat. Celebrity culture dictates this: Laural from Laural and Hardy will always win, will get our sympathies, because he is not “fat.” And celebrity culture is what put Obama in office in the first place.
"Though I fight nearly every waking hour as a combatant in the war of ideas, I have not been a soldier in our military. Thus, I cannot speak from experience on this, but rather only from what I have heard and read: In war, there are some commanding officers that men will do anything for. Die for, kill for, fall on a grenade for. Again, I do not know, but I strongly suspect that West is such a person. That natural leader vibe came through in his speech. To me, at least, it was obvious.
"What's even more amazing is that West's speech has all the needed characteristics in balance. Perry and Cain were both great, but you could also point to one element as being the operative characteristic. Perry was endearing. Cain was rousing. But in a way, these characteristics were so overriding as to be a bit disproportionate. West's was totally in balance, in such a way that you can't find a single adjective like the others.
"Indeed, West himself appears to have a great balance. He's calm, but forceful in just the right measure, at just the right time. He's obviously intelligent, yet he feels down-to-earth. He's handsome, but his greying hair and glasses project dignity. He's fearless, and yet not in the way that makes him seem isolated and angry. Rather, he's fearless, and he makes you feel fearless too.
"Perry and Cain gave speeches with certain characteristics that made those speeches inspiring. West's balance of so many different positive characteristics places him on a plateau above the rest of the fieldon the level of a statesman.
"You may think I am over-analyzing, but I am not. These are things that combine to have an effect, both conscious and subconscious, on voters and citizens of nationswho in turn make men into leaders of nations. West may not be running for president now, but it is clear that he has a bright future, and would make one of the most formidable candidates if he were ever nominated.
"I myself am not a big fan of following people. I prefer ideas, and I prefer that the people we follow are followers of those same ideas themselves. But I'm not stupid, in that I recognize that I am not the norm in that regard. Human beings are, it seems, hard-wired to follow PEOPLE. As we have seen again and again in history, natural-born leaders with the ability to inspire people have easily gotten many to follow themto places good and terrible. Human beings follow where strong leaders leadit's just how it is.
"Allen West is clearly such a leader, and that's why I am telling you all this. Thank God he wants to lead in the right direction."
Look past the Primary to the debates preceding the General Election. Imagine two people debating the great questions facing America.
One is highly trained in the Alinsky method, deeply indoctrinated in the ideas of redistribution, collectivism, and the philosophy of Marx, Lenin, Mao, etc., and sees government planning, control, and coercion as solutions for "winning" America's future.
The other has immersed himself in study of the ideas of liberty and philosophy underlying America's Declaration of Independence and Constitutional limits on government power, relying, as did the Framers of those documents, on Creator-endowed rights and liberty for individuals.
In order to understand modern threats to those ideas, he also has studied and understands the history and ideas which threaten America; namely, collectivism, communism, and radical Islam. He understands the subtleties of the arguments which can be posited on their side, because the understands their roots.
As Cook observed, his demeanor is one of fearlessness, not arrogance or cockiness, because he has faced real danger in defending the American idea, accompanied by a willingness to give his own life for it as a leader of men and women in battle.
Now, examine the potential candidates out there on the horizon and decide who can best persuade American citizens for liberty and demolish the counterfeit ideas which emanate from the current Administration--ideas of dependency on government which, eventually, lead to slavery to that government and loss of leadership in the world.
The one-on-one debates between the Republican candidate and the President will play a large role in 2012. Allen West's depth of understanding of the role of government under the Founders' Constitution, as well as his personal history, make him a formidable opponent.
So she's dead to you now? Because that is what your posts seem to indicate.
"Attacks?" Seems to me she's wasted little ink on the issue. Where are her "birther" articles?
