A group of 100 faculty members at UC Irvine signed a letter asking the Orange County district attorney to drop criminal charges against 11 Muslim students who disrupted a speech by the Israeli ambassador to the United States.
The group, including five deans, said the Muslim Student Union was wrong to disrupt the speech last year by Ambassador Michael Oren but that the students and the group had already been disciplined by the university.
Orange County prosecutors announced last week they were charging the students with two misdemeanor counts, including conspiracy to disrupt the speech. If convicted, each faces up to six months in jail.
The decision to charge the students, the faculty letter says, “sets a dangerous precedent for the use of the criminal law against nonviolent protests on campus.”

Maybe they can stick up for the Notre Dame student abortion protesters who got hosed.
Institutions of lower learning....and we pay these scums salaries.
My kids will not be allowed to attend UCI or any other pro-jihadi university. Don’t want those professors (or the Muzzie students) anywhere near my children.

The decision NOT to charge the protestors sets a dangerous precedent too ... a far worse one.
Would these same ‘enlightened and tolerant’ educators have done the same thing if 11 Jewish students has prevented a Muslim leader from speaking?
Or if 11 Christian students had done the same thing?

Oh so if a University asks you to not enforce our laws, that some how lends credibility? I didn’t think so either.
If 11 pro-life students had heckled a pro-abortion speaker, they would have been expelled, their names, pictures, and home addresses posted on the university website, and the faculty would have called for their execution.
Under the mercy of sharia law, cut their tongues out, then deport them.
One of my kids is at UCSD and last year there was a very lively campus debate about Islam. There is a very serious conservative core of students on that campus who are not afraid to be heard. They held their own ground against the Muslim Union with well researched and rational arguments.
The best the other side could drag out we “Islamophobia”.
I would say the good guys won.
Just as Glenn Beck has been saying this week. The leftist socialists in this country side with the Muzzie/Jihadists. At the state University I retired from, they were trying to decide whether to boycott Israeli stock investments because of how they “occupy” the Pali lands. And most of the Profs approved of the various anti-Israeli activities that were concocted (marches, speaking events, etc) by the young activist Pali organizations on campus. The leftists and Muzzies have joined under the concept of the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
There should be NO Muslim Student Union; there should be NO Black Student Union; there should be NO student unions of any kind based on race or creed.
Separately, the faculty members are telling the students that it’s OK to be rude, obnoxious and stupid as long as you believe yourself to be correct. And that such acts should have no consequences because these kids think they’re victims.
No THAT’S stupid.
