Time's Halperin Raves: Obama HasLevel of 'Sophistication and Skill' That Not One Republican Can
NewsBusters ^ | 2/3/11 | Geoffrey Dickens

It's rare when Chris Matthews is outdone in his praise of Barack Obama but Time's Mark Halperin, on Thursday's Hardball, managed to top the MSNBC host as he delivered a rave review of Barack Obama's performance at the National Prayer Breakfast. After playing a clip of the speech, Matthews merely offered a "That's pretty good" but the Game Change co-author did him one better, going as far to warn any GOP candidate considering a presidential run in 2012 to study the address because it had "a level of sophistication and skill that not one Republican on the field right now can duplicate."

(video, audio and transcript after the jump)

The following exchange was aired on the February 3 edition of MSNBC's Hardball:

(Begin clip)

BARACK OBAMA: And let me tell you, these past two years, they have deepened my faith.

Thank God.

Because what we look for at prayer breakfasts is sophistication.

Right. Because he’s the liberal Ronald Reagan!

No mention from Halperin most Americans oppose this President’s agenda.

Any reference to Chris Mathews should be preferenced by “former Carter socialist spokes-hack”

That must be why he needs a teleprompter.

‘Sophistication and skill’.

Um. Do liberals ever make sense?

This is an excellent example of how the left is very dumb and simple minded. They will listen to this idiot President read something off the teleprompter that directly contradicts something he said yesterday and the Lamestream will look upon it as the most true and right thing they have ever heard.

No wonder no one reads or buys your books Mark. You are a dim bulb without perspective on anything. Have fun in the gutter with Chrissy Matthews.

Obama’s dog is not as happy to see him as ol’ Chris is.

I can almost feel Halperin's leg tingling...

I think a teleprompter can now be called an Obama.

Isn't there a saying about consistency only being a virtue if you're not a screw up?

I'd say that same concept probably applies to Mr Obama's 'skill' and 'sophistication'. Whatever it is he's good at and in whatever way he's complex, he needs a lot less of each.

Because he’s the liberal Ronald Reagan!

Why don't liberals leave Reagan's name out of it and just call OBummer Carteresque or Clintonesque?
I mean *Jimmah* Carter and *BJ* Clinton are two of their biggest heroes.....Just saying.

“a level of sophistication and skill...”

A psychotic narcissist oftentimes convinces the “oides” that worship at their feet.

(How about convincing the rest of us, Halperin.....with the brilliant, sissy-boy’s scholastic records he’s keeping hidden?)

I doubt a conservative president standing at the national prayer breakfast would have forgotten to mention our soldiers who are serving overseas.

Not one word about the soldiers from Obama.

Typical of him.

His speech was all about him.
