The tennis court at former President Jimmy Carter‘s private home is swept twice a day, his pool is cleaned daily and his grass cut, his flower beds weeded and his windows washed on a regular basis — all at taxpayers’ expense.

It’s a crime that taxpayer money is used to keep these old Marxist fossils living on the Ritz.

Their goals were/are the same, so why not?

Carter = getting the camel's nose under the tent.
Obama = establishing the camel's ownership of the tent.

In addition to being a thorough incompetent as President, Mr. Carter was and is a sanctimonious phony. A recent book on the Presidents told of how he made such a big deal of being seen carrying his own bag as President - this was done for public consumption, when out of view, the suit bag was immediately handed off to those accompanying him. He projected himself as working dawn to midnight in the Oval Office, yet slept for hours in that office each afternoon. He banned liquor at WH parties, but put back a few each day behind the doors of the Oval Office. I trust people who live the way they preach to others, not the sanctimonious “holier than thou” types who really aren’t holy at all.

Lyndon B. Johnson also signed a life estate agreement with the Park Service, but neither his presidential library nor the Park Service at the Johnson National Historic Park has a copy of the document, so it’s unclear what agreement they reached.

Knowing Lyndon Johnson you can be sure that he stuck the government with every bill he could get away with.

Plains is not convenient to anything. Every dollar dumped into Plains is lost money. It will never get enough visitors to pay a local kid to mow the lawn, much less upkeep the property and pay a staff.

It is a crime no matter the party. Once these people are out, the bennies should cease...period. And that goes for all of congress as well. Once they are out NO MORE.

I’m curious as to how all of the benefits got slipped in to begin with. It wasn’t always this way and where were the voters when these packages were getting passed in Congress? Was it done ‘under the table’? Will have to do research.

If it were up to me I would bulldoze that “Taj Mahal” (as Devvy Kidd suggested in one of her articles) on Penna Ave, and move ALL potuses into abandoned strip malls somewhere...after all, despite Hamilton’s wishes at the Concon, we never did elect them for life (king) and with vgeto power over congress and the states, did we?????

He said the Park Service took a pre-emptive approach to maintenance of the Carter estate, “commensurate with ensuring this historic site will be ready for the public’s viewing upon the expiration of the Carters’ life tenancy.

Last year it cost $67,841 to maintain the outside of his home. What did this pay for?
- clearing the driveway
- clearing the walkway
- clearing the tennis court
- picking up trash along the road that runs by the home
- clearing fallen branches along the walking trails
- cleaning the pool
- removes cobwebs
- mow grass around the pond
- weed the flower beds
- clear leaves from the pool’s pump house
- washes the windows of the home

This comes to over $1,000/week! All I can say is they're employing the most expensive yard man in the country. Or maybe it takes a team of workers. /sarc
