Allen West Backs Hard Choices At First Town Hall
By Greg Allen
Updated: 6 hours ago
Members of the House are back in their home districts through next week. For freshman representatives, it's their first chance to report back and hear from their constituents.
In Deerfield Beach, Fla., this week, Republican congressman and Tea Party firebrand Allen West held his first town meeting. But for the many West supporters who attended, it had the feel of a victory rally.
More than 300 people gave West a standing ovation when he arrived at the South Florida Bible College.
West began by holding up something that he told the audience was "pretty special." It was his congressional electronic voting card. "If you want afterwards, come by and see this, because this does not belong to me," he told the audience. "Even though it has my picture, it belongs to each and every one of you, the constituents of Congressional District 22."
In many ways, West is unconventional. He's an African-American Republican representing a mostly white, affluent district. And he became the first Republican in 14 years to join the Congressional Black Caucus.

"We got all the media here and everything," he said. "Let me tell you guys something. Stop with this media manipulation of this group of Americans called the Tea Party."

He is the real deal. He is not like that RINO scum McCain or LBJ Repub RINO scum from Texas - Perry, Kay Bailey or Cornyn or Corker/Alexander in Tenn.
Go Allen! Rock the House!
Palin / West ‘12
I was in the audience--even though my house
is not in his district--and the tea partiers were in full support there.
There were at least 10 standing ovations for our hometown hereo named Lt. Col./Rep. West.
I like Allen West but I don’t agree with raising the retirement age. Currently its age 66 for me and that’s plenty old enough. Should have been a Senator for they fake working while being richly retired and leave office in the horizontal position,

Palin has never served ....
No one that never served should ever be elected to be the commander and chief of our military again .
It’s too much to ask of them .
America needs to be led by warriors , not lawyers .
West could be that man
you do realize that raising the age for SS would only effect those 40 and under and would not effect us 55 and over
Kerry served.
Would you take him over Palin?
Palin has raised a son that chose to serve.
Cut her some slack.
On the other hand, I’d prefer not to have a military person as president. Serving in the military doesn’t make someone more special than anyone else.
BTW, Sarah Palin isn’t a lawyer.
Yes, the retirement age for those 40 and under must be raised through the roof so there's plenty of SSI and SSDI money for all the nation's firemen and other public laborers who "hurt their back" around the age of 40, and to cover the "crazy checks" handed out to welfare mothers who encourage their kids to "act crazy" in school.
Yeah. That's the ticket. Raise the retirement age for normal, hard-working, productive citizens who spend their lives paying into the system at gunpoint. After all, 1 out of every 19 Americans is "disabled" and collecting. They need to "get theirs" first.

He ain’t no African-American, Greg. He’s 100% American stock.
West has his Congressional work ahead of him, so POTUS 2012 is off the radar.
Folks are gravitating towards West for reasons that will be self-explanatory. I guarantee he will not disappoint.
Good point. If you had a choice of raising the retirement age or reducing benefits, which would you choose?
Something needs to be done. Our children can;t afford to keep the promises our parents made.
I was stunned by that article.
I’ll do one one better...no one should be commander and chief unless their own child is deployed....

I think Allen West is a terrific guy and am glad he won his house seat. I’ve heard him interviewed a number of times. He’ll make a great tea party congressman.
As an elected official, you bet. He's a true patriot!
“Yeah. That’s the ticket. Raise the retirement age for normal, hard-working, productive citizens who spend their lives paying into the system at gunpoint.”
I understand you’re being sarcastic, but this actually makes a lot of sense. Let’s also make social security means tested. So it’s only available to those on lower incomes.
It’s all a very important part of eroding support for social security. The only reason it’s still here is because it has fairly widespread political support. Make it just like any other welfare program and that support will disappear. And then it will finally go away maybe 20 years from now.
