Russo: Tea Party Express Will Not Challenge Hatch in 2012, Calls Senator an ‘Original Tea Partier’
National Review ^ | 1/27/11 | Robert Costa

Posted on 01/28/2011 3:48:27 AM PST by markomalley

The buzz in Utah is that Sen. Orrin Hatch may be vulnerable in 2012, especially if a Tea Party insurgent mounts a campaign to snag the nomination at the Utah Republican convention. Last year, Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater knocked off Sen. Bob Bennett on the second ballot, sending the Beehive State into a political tizzy. Lee, of course, now holds the seat and is making an early name for himself as a fiscal hawk.

(snip)

Sal Russo, the group’s chief strategist, tells National Review Online that the Tea Party Express will not tangle with Hatch in 2012. “In 1976, when I was scouring the country trying to find people to stand up for Ronald Reagan, there were not very many in the Republican party that would, especially with the president being Jerry Ford. Orrin Hatch, however, stood up and was our state chairman,” Russo explains. “He is somebody who has been willing to stand up for a long time.”

“In 1976, when I was scouring the country trying to find people to stand up for Ronald Reagan,......”

THAT was then. Today a RINO stands where once there was a Reaganite. What was, but isn’t now doesn’t help our cause.
No room for sentimental reflections in this World today.

Go after every RINO, and get them the “H” out of play.

Hatch needs to be replaced with a Conservative.

His admitted love for Ted Kennedy should make most Conservatives nauseous.

Should we be surprised? Once the Tea Party Express set it sights on becoming a “national” organization with its eyes fixed on Washington DC and purporting to speak for the Tea Party...it was only a matter of time before they were co-opted by the very culture it sought to change. My efforts are focused at the State level...the last Constitutional entity that can reel in Washington DC.

OK, what’s the deal here? This sure looks like the TPX has sold out to Hatch.

The Tea Party Express will be effectively dumped by the Tea Party

Orrin Hatch is a Liberal RINO who is the original author of DREAM Act Illegal Alien Amnesty. Hatch is Pro-Illegal/Anti-American...and support of him is support of Amnesty.

The Tea Party Express, and the pro-Illegal Alien FreedomWorks...need to be dumped by all in the Tea Party. These groups are anathema to the Tea Party

That’s only the opinion of Sal Russo and the Tea Party “Express”. I would guess the TP Patriots have not weighed in yet.

The deal is that TPX leaders don’t know the difference between a RINO and a REAL republican.

Those of us who warned conservatives about this from the beginning were pretty much shouted down around here.

But the chickens always come home to roost.

Hatch, under the direction of Utah moneybags John Huntsman, Sr., has also helped push for experimentation on, and killing of, human embryos.

He’s not pro-life.

And, as a side note, Glen Beck honored Huntsman with an award at his DC rally.

Folks better start paying attention.

Hatch is an establishment crony who needs to be replaced by a fresh new true conservative.

Ditto on the Huh?

Okay, he stood up some 34 years ago, but he’s fallen since then, and can’t get up.

THIS is where Russo gets HIS lesson. This fool actually thinks he speaks for the TEA party movement.
Move over dummy you're blocking the way of the people.

Let’s say that Orrin Hatch was the best pf Palin, Pence, Reagan, Phil Crane, Henry Hyde, Chris Christie and Marco Rubio rolled into one.

It is 2010. You don’t say that a man won’t be primaried when he still has time to turn to the dark side. We just voted in the new Congress. They are ALL on probation.

TPX has indeed sold out conservatives. Liberals everywhere are rejoicing. Soon Sarah Palin, that great supporter of RINO’s will come out for Hatch.

I think TPX also has scheduled republican debates on CNN, just another indication of their sellout to the left.

Fact is about 20 percent of republicans are socialists, that why we always see them surrendering positions of power to the left and conservatives screaming, “they just don’t get it.”

Most in leadership positions are socialists, just look at McConnel and Boehner’s tax deal. Both are closet socialists.

When good people spend too much time in Washington, the result is almost always the same. Orrin has been there too long.

As the Constitution says: "securing for limited Times"

Time for overly squishy and elite-boosting Hatch to move on. His limited Time as Senator is up.

Thanks for that post. Huntsman may be a great man, but with Hatch he has pushed US Patent law into a thing oppressive to invention and protective of non-productive leeches.

35 years is exactly the reason he should be replaced! Enough already.

One fifth (actually 21) Senators are over the age of 70 ( Hatch is the 7th oldest of them all). Collectively these 21 Senators have been in the Senate ( and many of them were in the House prior to being elected to the Senate) for a total of 518 years! That’s about 25 years on average. The Lautencorpse and the “Two Daniel’s” from Hawaii are all 86 years old (Akaka has been there for 47 years). This is a trasvesty. It’s time for all of them to go! In 33 years, Hatch has long since “contributed” whatever “new ideas” he had when he arrived. If the TPX doesn’t want to primary him, then they need to be gone too.
