Inside Pentagon, Growing Alarm Over China’s Military Prowess
Forbes Magazine ^ | 1/24/2011 | Loren Thompson

Chinese President Hu Jintao had an embarrassing moment in mid-January when his military flight-tested a new tactical aircraft during a visit by U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Several features of the plane looked remarkably similar to America’s top-of-the-line F-22 fighter, and yet somehow leaders of the People’s Liberation Army air force managed to not mention to Hu that the test was happening.

So the Chinese leader ended up learning about it from Gates. The episode suggested that although Hu is formally in charge of the Chinese military, he doesn’t know what it is doing much of the time

Imagine a 200 million man standing army. Very possible for China.

It does suggest that Hu Jintao is not in control of the military

The PLA already has 2.23 million man army. There are 660,000 personnel serving in the People’s Armed Police (PAP), and 1.2-1.5 million in the reserve forces and militia.

My money bets he knows exactly what was being demonstrated. The chins think they are in a position to bully now. Even though they can’t back it up militarily. Their big gun is their holdings in financial instruments. Which in my opinion says go ahead and dump them then you got nothing and you just earned the hit with our trade weapon.

“The episode suggested that although Hu is formally in charge of the Chinese military, he doesn’t know what it is doing much of time.”

BS. This was a calculated insult—just as the piano player from China at the recent state dinner. If Zero were as tough on his international opponents as he is nasty to his domestic opponents, he would be qualified to be president. He’s a weak man as soon as he sets foot off US soil.

China says that it does not have a “ no first use” of nuclear weapons policy but I severly doubt it.I do not believe it.

And people can’t understand why, when it comes to free trade with China, I reference Free Traitors.

Frankly, when it comes to folks who have financed China’s rise, and have gifted it with our best technology, I have very little objection whatsoever to quick government trials and firing squads.

Will they swim to America? Maybe they can take over Mongolia and Siberia but for the rest they need naval power.

I think thats exactly what they woul do. As I recall, our policy was that if they were to attack and sink a carrier, it is to be considered an attack on american soil which requires a nuclear response. I also find it difficult for them to amass an army of 200 mil. Where and how would they deploy them. By sea they would be easy pickens for our subs and aircraft.
